He’s not being given a chance for some reason. No idea why. It’s nothing to do with his ability.

Perhaps his confidence is low so its more shielding him for now and unleashing him again when it comes back as we all know he is a confidence player

He came on for 20 mins as an impact sub yesterday.
And made no impact at all.
That doesn't help him. Especially as Bassette was a live wire.

He’s a top top player for this division, his MV is 3.5m and he plays for a fellow Championship club and contract until 2028. Only way we’re getting him is a little more than MV, he’s 29 now so still has a good 4/5 years in him depending how his body holds up

He is a very good player in this league but will turn 30 in Feb, he's contract to summer 2026 not 2028, so has 18 months left on his contract. The club isn't going to pay that much for that age of player, it's not the model.

Simms is never gonna be an impact sub though, not that sort of player

But the fact he's so hot and cold is an issue.

When he's on it he's almost unplayable, but to often, and seemingly out of nowhere, he loses all confidence and spark. So much so that you start to think there may be some underlying condition or reason. For me he's the one that Dr Roberts should be focused on as it's supposed to be her area of expertise.

So if we could get him firing again and someone was willing to pay a decent price in the summer, I wouldn't be averse to taking it and seeing who we could get with the funds. And I like Simms.

We won’t be getting a CM, unless Sheaf goes which TBH I wouldnt be shocked with. King said as much as the forum. He thinks we’ve got enough.

Expecting Vik to move generating about 4-6m extra for us to potentially spend

In :
LWB - Harvey Vale (Loan to buy)
CB - Rob Holding (1m)
RWB - Josh Acheampong (loan)
Or - Ethan Laird (2m)
Or - Emil Krafth (500k)
CM - Alex Mowatt (4m)

Out :
Jake Bidwell (100k)
Fabio Tavares (100k)
Ben Wilson (loan)
Kai Andrews (loan)

This is just ideal transfers in my opinion, Laird and Krafth are very solid defensively RB/RWB. Looking at Laird’s underlying data he’s very strong defensively for a League 1 defender let alone his position. Krafth has got plenty of experience and could fill the void of Bidwells experience.
Mowatt is the perfect fit for what we need in CM in my opinion we must go all out for him.
Holding is seeing few appearances for Crystal Palace and is an experienced CB who has played at the top level could be fantasy land due to wages but if it could be pulled off I’d 100% love to see him come in.
Harvey Vale could be the perfect foil on the left hand side to MvE and even if we go to a back 4 he can play LW or as a 10.

I would struggle to imagine we would get fees for the likes of Allen Bidwell and Tavares - be pleased if we did but reckon it would be a case of using their combined wages on a another player

Bidwell shouldn't in theory be all that difficult to move on. A club would probably just take over his existing contract. No chance he generates a fee with 6 months left on his deal.

If we wanted Mowatt, then this summer was our chance, as he was available on a free. I said at the time, he'd be a cracking signing. Really rate him

It’s hard to say without seeing the new manager set up. Assuming Lampard is going 433/4231:

GK: One should go really, probably find a buyer for Collins ideally.
RB: Get a loan in for cover unless the MvE successor is about
LB: If we’re playing 4ATB we need better than either option we have. Move Bidwell on and get someone in.
CB: Needs experience. Move Kitching on if he’s not going to be starting.
DM/CM: Tell Doug to butt out and get the midfielder we’ve been lacking since Hamer left pls. If anyone will take Allen let him go if King whines.
AM: I like Torp but beyond that feels like we don’t have a replacement for Palmer and O’Hare in that role which would be nice. Perhaps another loan.
LW/RW: We’re fine here.
ST: We’re fine here. Ship Tavares off.

Yeah but we’re talking ideals here, which is probably we get some cash for Collins now and get an older keeper in to help Dovin in the summer when Wilson leaves.

Did you watch yesterdays game, let the striker in front of him for the first goal, let the player come round him easily for the second, I think he is too slow to react for being a decent CB

I think Kitchings days are numbered. Fell out of favour with MR and not getting a game with Carr even though we are 3 at the back.

What we need more than anything is an experienced player at the back. Mistakes/soft goals have cost us dearly this season. I'd be happy with an older player who isn't interested in running up the pitch each time we get the ball. A big unit that would help our players develop.

Agree with all that - apart from the RB loan to cover - you wont get a loan of any quality come here to sit on the bench, its what was covered in the forum by Austin/DK, i think loans could plug all the other gaps though as more likely to get game time

A big lump with a big mouth at CB and a GK that is evaluated on his ability to save shots and catch crosses as well as a big mouth to organize whats in front of him. . This finding a footballing GK and forsaking his ability as a GK is not a good idea or a way to build a foundation for success.

Just look at Sunderland’s turnaround to demonstrate this. Leadership makes all the difference.

The team is good enough for Top 10 comfortably, they did it last season and we have strengthened our forward areas - we’re scoring enough goals!

The issues are in midfield and the defence. We’ve conceded 2 goals a game for 5 games in a row now. It’s just not good enough. We need to at least try to get Kitching and Bidwell in the team to sure things up back there.

In January, we need to make changes to the defence. It’s an absolute non-negotiable.

I'm not sure about incomings, but there's about 10 first team players I would be putting on the transfer list.
