He’s played well, but he’s not at the level required to be a starter for a playoff team. IMO, Sheaf, Grimes and even Eccles are better players.

Allen is a capable role player and a leadership figure so he has a lot value as a squad player, not as the main man.

He was in our playoff team. Unsung hero. Plays lots of minutes when fit. Like all players in midfield will need a rest soon. Our most experienced midfielder. Suits five at the back. Don't think he would be as good in a four at the back.

I like the fact that when he came in he was up to speed with fitness.
Sheaf seems to need 3 or 4 games before he irons out most of his mistakes.

But how much of that is him being viewed as an integral player and therefore rushed back?

Do we need Patterson?

I think so.

Proven in the league, experienced head and offers a creative option off the bench.

It’s a low risk, low cost signing and he’d be fully committed and motivated to prove a point.

There you go, we will be transitioning into four at the back as soon as all our key players return.

He’s a solid contributor and he’s able to play DM, CM and AM. Definitely an asset to a squad and a stalwart that all clubs need but it’s also fair to say he’s not the main man. If we’re being honest, Grimes, Sheaf, Torp, Rudoni and Eccles are better individual players.

Chilwell in at Palace, possibly means Schlupp can leave now.

Highly doubt it would be to join us but would be a great signing.

He fits in tactically very well with how we are playing at the moment, and is also captaining the side.

He may not start every game from now until the end of the season, but if he stays fit, I can see him playing a big part in it.

£4 million + Luis Binks for Tanganga, this is all I want. Tanganga is the best center back in the league. If we managed to sign him, a back 5 nobody is beating us. Thomas Tanganga Kitching would be a force.

Agreed, that’s been my main point about Allen, the CMs are playing really high and wide and Allen as the pivot is well suited to this because the role requires someone to a lot of space. Something he’s well suited to.

When we start to reintroduce wingers into the team, my inkling is that we won’t need the CMs to play as high and wide.

I think Patterson signs this week, surely by the sounds of it this is coming. I’d have thought till the end of the season with a year option??

Would be a disaster if Eccles goes. Good experienced and proven championship midfielder. If we were trying to sign someone with that profile we’d be all for it. So why are we so casual about the possibility of him going

I can’t see him leaving in this window at least. Squad is pretty settled.

We might see 1 more in today and 1 or 2 going out on loan.

I reckon 1 in today, a RB/RM loan from a top Premier League club.

I think Paterson will sign on a short term deal (albeit it may not be today as he can sign any time) and we might get a kid from Chelsea on loan and that'll be it. Howley and/or Burroughs might go out. Possibly the likes of Dausch and Perry to go out as well.

Selling a player who can’t get into the team already despite Sheaf and a grimes not being available can’t be described as a disaster.

To be fair to Eccles he may want a move himself to play games, he’s currently 6 choice for a midfield of 3.

I like him but we do have to sell some players to fund the players we are bringing in ….

Because he’s not getting in the team. I’d be tempted to take £5/6m.

We need more than eleven players though. Him and Allen are our only backup for Rudoni and Torp really. And he’s our only reserve RWB too.

Amazing isn't it, fans banging on about we need this player and that player and how we lack cover in midfield. We sign a player and all of a sudden Allen and Eccles are surplus to requirements.
