I'd heard that at the start of the window he would be open to a move as he wanted more minutes. I think it's probably fair to say that question is dead in the water now. Lampard has given him a chance and he's obviously firmly in his thoughts to keep. Same with Kitching, really glad they batted away that loan approach.

100% on both fronts. They’ve both took their chances after being selected. That said, it was baffling just how little game time Simms and Kitching were getting until recently.

Allen should get a new contract unless we’re planning on signing another player and Sheaf extends his contract.

Agreed, proof is there for all to see now, they needed to be given a run. Allen has been brilliant in his role, a top professional too.
Who knows what scenario will unfold with the midfield.

Not that he wouldn't be welcome but we need more on the right hand side beyond just MVE and Saka

Yep kinda surprised we haven’t got any RW or a RB in (not for the lack of trying tho Tbf).

Tbf I missed Saddle naming Grimes, which is surprising as I lurk on here all day during transfer window season.

I'd be very concerned if MVE got injured or needed resting as Burroughs really isn't the answer. It needs to be someone you'd be happy to start, not someone who can play the position on paper.

We can continue with the 5-3-2 or put one of our other attacking players out on the right if Saka weren't available, but there's not really anyone we can stick at RB. If there's only one position we add another player it has to be there I think.

I think if MvE got injured / suspended we still have enough cover for this season . We either keep a five and play Eccles or Burroughs in the rwb role , Eccles has done very well as rwb before . Or we go flat 4 with Lati slotting in at RB

Tatsu could potentially step in at RWB if he had to. Possibly Howley as well at a push?

Think Sakamoto has played the odd game there in Belgium but thought Howley was more of a CAM,or a central midfielder

Tahirovic is a top young talent and if we do get him in on a loan to buy he will be the younger version of Sheaf, Grimes and will be a linger project. I keep seeing the lad at Boro mentioned on here hs not at the same level as Tahirovic.

The lad from Oxford would be a nice pick up but if these 2 are in. Eccles, Burroughs and Howley will be out on loan or perm.

Signing Matt Grimes is also up there as one of the best imo.

We can’t compete with the likes of Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield Utd.

It is one of the best signings up there, yet somehow you want to play him alongside Sheaf!

Like Margot Robbie willing to go on a date with you, and you take her to McDonald's.

I’m told he’s arriving on Monday from same person who told me Matondo’s deal collapsed before the media said it, Carr had left a few hours before it was announced and Tavares had gone to Burton a day before that was announced. If it doesn’t happen then apologies but I’m very confident with what I’ve been told

ITK quotient not registered, hindsight does not count, it all hangs on the Tahirovic rumour.

So what we saying then? Tahirovic? A loan from Chelsea?

We're in a weird position where Emc, wright and Sheaf coming in will feel like new signings. Certainly emc and wright

We do probably need cover for MVE because whilst he seems to have woken up a bit now, he's being asked to play every minute of every game

Could potentially loan both. Tahirovic with an optin to buy whilst allowing Eccles out to get starts as they will be limited with us now once Sheaf is back

I agree RB cover needed. I guess anything else will be based on players planned to still be out of contract and released at end of season, so at the moment Wilson, Tyler, Burroughs, Allen, Howley and Tavares. To me those 6 players need to be replaced by 5, RB, LB, CB, AM and RF. So anything in this window that can reduce summer needs either by new contracts (Allen?) or signings that add to the squad now would be welcome. Any other signings would be based on 1 out 1 in so Collins, Sheaf, Eccles etc

Allen Howley and Burroughs all have an option in our favour so could extend by a year at no cost if needed.

There should be some loans out too. Howley and Burroughs unless the latter is pencilled in to be there for mve. But where was he yesterday?

Gotta get some of the young lads out. Dausch played a few championship minutes last season and in pre season was playing well against league 2 and 1 teams for us. U23s level is wasted on him now surely

Have been surprised that when he has come on for a few mins at end of match that he hasn't replaced MVE just to allow that to be looked at. As such feel it isn't something currently been considered

Daush definitely needs a loan. He and Obikwu have got a chance to develop into first team standard forwards so now's the time to really help them press on. There are a few others in that group who might be ready too.

Didn't Frank say he wanted Howley and Burroughs around the squad for the rest of the season to properly assess them? Or have I made that up?

He said he brought them back off loan to evaluate them in training rather than sending them straight off again or extending the loans. I think now they’ve both been in the match day squad they can’t go back out on loan but I may have misunderstood the rules.

As long as they haven't played they can still go out on loan. As far as I understand it anyway.

Think he’ll want them around if he’s got to make a decision on a contract extension at the end of the season and has never seen them.

Ajax were interested in MvE in the summer.

So…

MvE to Ajax.
Tahirovic + £5m this way.
Buy the RB we were talking to and Tyler Goodrham.
Perhaps Eccles out too.

They haven’t been able to get insides far inferior to ours. That assessment won’t take long.

Im inclined to agree but still feel like he’ll want to see it himself and it takes a few weeks for players to get a new manager as we’ve seen.

Way too late for this to be true imo. So much to sort at way too sort notice.

Maybe Jimmy can confirm but sounds to me reading inbetween the lines that the RB wasn’t interested in the end.
