BTA will be difficult to shift for what we paid.
Just need to wait and see re the others. I hope Doug sees sense regarding the benefit of a loan deal . Ruling them out completely is folly.

Torn on BTA.
We saw what happened with EMC given time, but when Wright got injured he was the natural replacement.
Barring a huge injury crisis just don't see BTA getting a run.

If its true about the loans, And Ive believed it from the start, then King hasn't learnt his lesson.

One of the things that brought me round to the idea of Lampard as a manager is I thought been a big name King might be a bit more inclined to listen to him but perhaps I got that wrong.

More worrying for me is if he digs his heels in over signing some experience.

Agree Clint. In my mind this is an acid test for Doug. Listen to those around him with the football experience ( although admittedly he has probably already been bitten by this ). The difference is that Lampard was his pick and as such has to back him to retain credibility.

@Saddlebrains Isn’t the Sorba deal being off to facilitate a cm signing?

There’s 3 strikers ahead of him already.

why on earth we signed him as a 4th choice striker I’ll never know

Tavares could have played that role and we could have signed a midfielder

genuinely baffling

Was told today of a delay on the Rak Sakyi deal. And no one needs to believe me, dont need any 'heres your agenda'stuff, but again it's down to Doug being funny about loans.....

Outs wise, Hull and Blackburn want BTA but it will be for less than we paid, so it's probably not a goer. Tavares and Collins both have solid L1 interest. Collins will be harder to Shift however as he's sat on a nice contract for the next 18 months.

Lati deal still on

Maybe I am a bit more hasty but can't see much upside with BTA. There's no way I would want to see him as a regular starter . Waste of a squad place

I want him to be good, I'm a big advocate of giving players time and I like to think I'm good at seeing green shoots in new players I expect to come good. Not seeing it with him I'm afraid, be tempted to cut our losses as long as its not too much.

didn’t king sanction a loan in the summer which fell through due to pre deadline injury ? I’d be shocked if he went against lampards wishes unless the loan fee/costs just don’t make sense

Doug is completely clueless. You’ll still get some on here saying he’s an amazing owner though and will be happy with what’s happening in this window. Wouldn’t surprise me if Lampard walks if he’s putting a stop to loans

Hard to disagree with this although I like BTA, great work ethic and comes across well. Always had the feeling that if we’d known the bassette deal was available at the time we maybe wouldnt have signed BTA

Yes. Whether that's permanent or loan i don't know, just that priorities changed when Sheaf got injured

Keep hearing about this loan that didn't materialise but very sceptical to be honest. Where did that information come from?

Austin spoke about loans at the forum and why they were problematic but never mentioned we'd had one lined up which given the context of what he was saying seemed strange.

I think the comments at the fans forum said it all. The shite Austin was coming out with about it meaning players we signed are benched and unhappy, no resale value etc. Doug stuttering when someone outright said why are we the only club without a loan etc

O'Hare
Sheaf
Gyokores

All loaned then purchased

Liam Walsh - loan who was player of the season in our L1 title winning season

McNally
Doyle
BNC

Crucial loans that helped us almost reach the PL

I hope the Rak Sakyi deal does take place, mainly because it will show finally he's softened on it

Our recruitment since DK arrived, his comments about the quality of the squad at the forum and pushing back on much needed CM help with a player from an elite academy pretty much confirms Doug is clueless from a football POV. DOF badly needed, at the very least delegate more.

DOF is massively needed, would be the biggest signing of this window. Not sure Doug’s ego could handle it though the way he runs things

This is what I was referring to in my last post. Surely if we'd had a loan lined up he'd have said so during this part of the conversation.

Just look above at the comments I have been making about this issue . Unlike you I am reserving judgement until there is enough evidence to make one either way.

You'd think so wouldn't you. But if, having gone through 2 transfer windows, we remain the only club without a loan then you'd have to start questioning it.

Still just under 3 weeks to go though so we'll see.

Going to support Doug here actually. Lampard was hired on the understanding he could get more from what we’ve got and so far he hasn’t. Any loan unless it’s followed up with a season long isn’t going to be much use and isn’t going to be the difference between us going down or staying up. Sheaf is back in five weeks or so and there will be a rebuild in the summer.

As a fan I want a loan in, as a pragmatist it’s probably a waste of cash.
