Wright isn't gonna play on the right. Don't see how he'd be effective without being able to cut in on his strong foot.

Our strongest front 3 right now is EMC - Wright - Sakamoto, assuming Wright plays well in the centre of a 3. If not, Wright - Simms - Saka.

BTA is just never gonna play centrally in that system. And he doesn't look like a winger. Selling him for £2m and spending it on a RW would be best for both us and him IMO.

It is so unlikely BTA would go when he's just moved here and isn't unsettled as to be totally unrealistic. Maybe he can improve, I doubt it but maybe next season he will be more of an asset.

This is one of the most bizarre threads we've had in a while - 90% of the chat anything but transfers and when we're rumoured to be linked with players they barely get double digit posts.

You would do it to open up spots in the squad. Dovin and Wilson were only out together for one game, so in that scenario you’d play the U21 keeper. Be good experience for them to be on the bench with the first team imo.

Because at the very worst in that scenario we’d just have Bell on the bench.

we are allowed an emergency registration loan goalkeeper if we have no professionals available.

some of you are so risk averse you probably wear two johnnys when shagging

Wright, EMC and Simms may well be better players than Sakamoto overall, but none are anywhere near as effective on the right. Saka is by far the best option there.

EMC looked poor on the right and clearly favours the left. Wright also prefers cutting in onto his stronger foot, we don't want him getting down the line to cross we want him driving in field.

So it has to be either

Wright - Simms - Sakamoto
or
EMC - Wright - Sakamoto

With the latter being my preference, although we haven't seen it in action yet to judge.
This is only a problem for the last few weeks of the season when EMC returns.

Wright and EMC cannot be satisfactorily accommodated in the same team. End of. Both are great on the left wing and poor in the centre or on the right. We have seen that many times. In particular Wright was bang average down the middle and EMC downright poor on the right. It is the mystery of the EMC purchase from the start.

The solution is to max out on Wright in the summer. He will be desperate to go unless there is a startling change in the current team's prospects for promotion.

So for a few weeks we will probably have to do turn and turn about, and just admire the size of the pay cheque in the summer

In both cases depends if there have been holes already picked in them.

It has always puzzled me why contract talks drag on so long. I know all the stuff about agents, but these are boilerplate contracts with only a limited number of variables. However yesterday I did learn of one boilerplate contract clause that some agents insert that gave me a clue about how nitpicky the process is. Some players insist on free meals at the training ground canteen being written in apparently.

Put on the other chat but could it be because he’s one of our ESC players. Assume part of that would be proving you want to play the player as a first teamer?

That’s irrelevant. You don’t have to register U21s in your squad list.

Is it? Based on what I found online they do have to be registered on the first team as the expectation is that they are to play first team minutes like loan players? Least that’s what the google search pointed at

You’re confusing registration with the squad list. The squad list is the 25 and you’re allowed as many U21s as you like.

There isn’t enough data to definitively say EMC couldn’t be as effective on the right, I don’t think he’s played more than 90m over 2-3 spells there. Sakamoto, for all his positives as a player, really isn’t the game changer he’s made out to be at times.

He’s pretty one dimensional at times (which can be super effective), but doesn’t really blow past defenders in ways that Haji and EMC do.

I thought for your allowed any U21s as long as their not loans or ESC in which case they have to be registered as a first team player? U21s can be registered as a U21 squad and then used in the first team?

Brain hurting from all this, just deregister the two goalies and Fabio and be done with it

We're not getting Guiu ffs, he's made first team apps for Chelsea and Barcelona, if they wanted to loan him out they'd easily have top flight clubs interested.

From what I've read and seen Robins was a factor in his signing (both in terms of Robins wanting him and BTA wanting to play for him). Now he's gone he may well be willing to leave.

I'm not saying get rid at all costs like Collins or Dasilva, just if we could get a decent fee and not lose out much then it would be worth taking IMO

The club isn't going to be unregistering players to make room for further additions to be brought in. It's a ridiculous argument frankly.

The pot has probably run dry by now. It's quite clear exits need to happen for players to come in.

Exactly the pot has run dry.

Im using this registration argument as most people think we have more, just a full squad

Which is more likely, two randoms on a forum are right and the football admin staff at championship are wrong or there is a reason whatever it is that Bassette needs to be registered in the 25 player squad.

This registration debate is absolute bollocks, registration is not stopping us signing anyone.

We have 24 registered, so have another slot left.

If we needed more Tyler and Tavares could be replaced easily since they don't contribute.

So that's 3 slots without even discussing this Bassette techinicality.

Think the club deserve the benefit of the doubt with this one. Should be asked at the Feb forum though. Don’t see why it’s an issue as there are other levers we could pull anyway to reducing the squad number

Both will be on very small contracts comparative to the rest of the squad and only have 6 months left on their existing deals.

If it was genuinely a problem the club would just begin the process of 'mutually terminating' their contracts and agree exit packages if it was looking very unlikely of a suitor being found for permanent / loan moves.
