He’s played at or near capacity for a number of months which in itself is a skill

This is the same forum that was probably 75% in favour of keeping a player this season who’s likely to drop down to the Conference this summer.

So you’re saying he’s been poor? For what he is, a free transfer player we had in league 1, he has had a very good season.

He’s neither brilliant or poor - he’s a decent squad player. Why is it always one extreme or the other on this forum?

He wasn’t a free transfer, we paid an undisclosed fee.

Only thing with Jamie is I dont get excited when he's on the ball. I don't think great, he's going to make a killer pass, or strike a worldie shot, or take on that defender and mug him. He runs around and gets involved, got bags of energy and creates a bit of space for others, but I kind of expect more, maybe I'm being harsh.

Apologies I will now choose my words carefully when giving players praise from now on.

Generally I was of the view he wasn't really good enough in one of the attacking midfielder roles. Has been a revelation alongside Hamer one of the defensive midfielder positions in my opinion. Offers something different to Kelly and Sheaf as he carried the ball between the lines. Allows us to attack a lot more quickly in my eyes.

Thought he was generally pretty awful last season and nowhere near Championship level, but he's been pretty decent this year.

Mainly because I think he's much better in central midfield and not attacking midfield. Doesn't score or assist enough for the AM role, but is much more effective in CM.

Rather have him than Kelly at CM.

OK I know he has his doubters on here , but does anybody still believe he's not worthy of being a squad player here .

Been very impressive overall since coming back from the dead several months ago

Can't take up much of the wage bill , always gives 110% .

Allen has been worthy of inclusion when picked and has not looked out of place IMO. He is a 7 out of 10 in most games. I look at the games during his time here that have been pivotal to our progress and Allen is in the team.
On Godden’s injuries it should be factored in the appendix removal as an anomal. Not football related.

Should be in for his reaction to goals alone, he really cares

Not every player needs to be a game changer, that’s what COH, Hamer, and in a different sense, Sheaf are for.

Allen is good off the ball, full of energy and tidy on it. He’s also the only box to box midfielder we have.

He’s not a sole 10, but can do a job in the advanced position when we play a box, and this year has shown he adds value playing CM too.

Doubt he’s a high earner and he’s apparently a good trainer too, so the sort of person you want around the squad.

He can more than do a job, and for all our moaning about a small squad, why would we move away from a versatile and reliable player.

I may be wrong but I think Allen regularly played in a midfield 3 for Burton as a ‘number 8’ as people say. I think in the box he has done tremendously well considering his game isn’t that naturally suited to being an AMC or a DMC as such

I think if you are putting together the perfect champi0nship squad then no players like Allen don't make the grade .. we dont have the luxury to do that anyway , and Allen just does a job that has helped contribute to the club being in 9th place in this division.. he's a steady eddy 6/7 out of 10 most weeks

Jamie Allen has been superb he compliments the others in the box. And love the ways he slots back into defensive role when Hamer comes off.

Like I been saying all season we play better with a Box midfield. Last 2 results prove that.

We play with a box midfield tommorow we will likely win. Actual blessing Godden is unfit as if we played with 2 strikers tommorow our midfield would be over run.

Also imo hes a better captain than Hyam in the current line up.

Fully agreed. Do you think if made vice captain next year he could make another step up in terms of leadership. He’s certainly at prime age to become a key / senior member of the squad?

Had agreed to offload him to Colchester in January but he picked up another injury so it fell through.

We haven't played the box the last few games. Allen has been deeper in a midfield 3 with Sheaf and Hamer.

You’re the only one who’s mentioned about him starting.
The vast majority were advocating giving him another contract as a squad player.

Where is this vast majority.

You bring him up all the time and then once discussion begins you start syaing you are syaing this about biamou and you are saying that about biamou

It's so odd

That’s ironic coming from you.
There were only a minority on here who didn’t want him kept on this season - the majority wanted him to be offered an extension.

Out of favor earlier in the season, Robins just simply could not ignore the impact he made as supersub vs Barnsley (A) and then Reading at Home.

Hes not looked back since.
