OK I know he has his doubters on here , but does anybody still believe he's not worthy of being a squad player here .

Been very impressive overall since coming back from the dead several months ago

Can't take up much of the wage bill , always gives 110% .

Thoughts

He’s probably a reasonable earner.

He’s a squad player really. People have moaned about o hare and his goal contribution

Allen has 1 goal this season in 2,500 minutes and other than one season at burton his record is consistent

1 goal a season

1 assist as well

he’s hard working and can make easy passes but that’s it - worst of the midfield 4 for sure

One of the few players in the squad with prior experience of regular Championship football. Ideally you want someone better than him starting every week but hard to argue he looks out of his depth.

He definitely feels like he offers us more than waghorn

Wouldn't have thought that earlier on in the season

Agree - wages will be very low end Championship. If we had a huge increase in budget, then look at upgrading;, however we won't have, so excellent value for money in terms of trying to maintain / extend the current squad. It's a keep from me.

That is correct! And they all have an important role to play in our squad right now, no?

There’s a few I’d like released in the summer. Allen isn’t one of them, he definitely plays a part. Drags players away from COH and Vik.

Happy for Allen to hang around as a squad player, but definitely need a stronger AM to come in and stake a claim to start.

Don’t rate him, watching him try and challenge players twice the size of him in the middle of the park is cringeworthy at times. Makes lots of safe passes but is never going to split a defence or score goals. Fine to have around the squad to fill in a few places in midfield, but never a starter for me, bit of a nothing player and if it came to it I’d rather let him go and get a midfielder who can stand in in either the AM, playmaker or DM roles.

I like Allen and think he is very underrated. He does work hard but I think his contribution is a lot more than simply running about a lot.He rarely makes mistakes and despite his lack of goals is certainly someone who works box to box. He is an example of how getting your head down, not moaning and taking your chance when it comes works with Robins.

Think he has a role to play as a squad player as can cover a couple of midfield positions. Gets around the pitch quickly which helps cover in front of back four and creates space/options going forward. Like the rest of the midfield needs to improve his shooting

Allen is good at taking the ball off the toes of opponents and playing good balls and his give and go moves forward on the flanks are a good part of this season.

I’m happy to progress to the top of the championship we need better but your negativity towards the contract extension was a little unfair

I just don’t get it and certainly not when we did. There’s hardly likely to be a load of clubs chasing his signing

We’ve got Kelly stuck here next year on £8 grand a week. I can’t see us moving him on as it is.

A big challenge next season is to reduce the wage bill of non contributors which wont be that easy

Being the worst of a midfield 4 of Hamer, COH, Sheaf and Allen isn’t necessarily the put down you think it is

Undoubtedly has improved this season but if we want to progress we need better in my view. I guess ok as a squad player, but I am not convinced he is capable of being a top Championship player which is what we should be aspiring to at this stage. Having said that I respect that he has worked hard to get to a place where he has contributed positively to our displays recently.

Godden anyway is far too often injured and ironically if he wasn’t we wouldn’t be 3 points off the play offs now

His goals speak for themselves lads .. if there's one thing you can't take away from godden is his goal record at this level for us .. it's very good .

But this thread is about Jamie Allen

I do have to ask though , would you sign haaland ?

Surely Europe's elite clubs will stay clear of him as he's so injury prone

You conveniently missed off the 15 league games he played for Salzburg in the 19-20 season…

Last 3 years he’s played 40, 45 and 25. Hardly the 50% of the season missing like Godden has

At just 21 he's had almost 200 days injured over 4 seasons... 21 .

That's not far off 2 months a season ... he's also injury prone

Again would you sign him ?

Answer ... yes .. he scores goals
