Watch Torp, he still gets shrugged off the ball far too easy on occasion.
Like I say, light years ahead of where he was start of the season but still got work to do.

Torp is comfortably a better midfielder. It’s unlikely that we are going to play Grimes and Allen together in a 5-3-2 because their role is too similar. Perhaps in a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-4-3 where a double pivot can work. Two pivots in a flat 3 with no wingers is hamstringing our chance creation.

Allen deserves the nomination because he’s been a key ingredient in making the 5-3-2 system work. Without his defensive work, Rudoni and Torp could push up so high and wide to create overloads for the WBs.

But one assumes will be ahead of Eccles in the pecking order so where does that leave him?

They are ahead of Eccles in the pecking order right now, and on form since the Plymouth game fairly so. I would be surprised if they are both still ahead of Eccles come the end of the season however.

Anyone advocating for him to be dropped to accommodate Grimes instead of Torp has lost their mind.

Yes, I was surprised it was Allen who made way for Grimes and not Torp. I thought he was having much more impact on the game, particularly at the start of the second half. I thought Torp had a poor game against Leeds and I’m still not convinced on his contribution to the team.

I thought we were simply too light in there and over ran, whoever was in or out. I'd have kept both on and brought Grimes on for a defender instead, probably Lati.

Is that the game where he scored two goals?
