Nomination for EFL player of the month. Well deserved. Not recognised enough for what he brings to the team. Was outstanding coming back in.

Nice of Frank to give him the day off yesterday as recognition.

Anyone advocating for him to be dropped to accommodate Grimes instead of Torp has lost their mind.

Torp has also been nominated for Fans Player of the month, so it's not as cut and dry as you suggest.

FWIW, I like Allen, but the role he's come in and done excellently, is exactly what Grimes does, and does to a higher level

Well deserved, I don't think anyone else in the team has the engine Allen that gives us apart from maybe van Ewijk

It is not Allens preferred role though

Torp has been very good as well and plays in a more advanced role than Allen has been. Unless you are saying we change the midfield shape/move Allen forward or play Grimes in a role that isn't his most natural then people "haven't lost their minds".

I'd put Alllen in the more advanced role.
Torps come on leaps and bounds physically but he still has more work to do on that scores.

You are advocating dropping torp on physicalty but will leave Allen in in the same role....

Allen doesn't have the technique to play in a more advanced role in this league though. He has been really good but he is mostly a safety first shorter passer at the moment so if you move him forward you lose Torps forward runs and his ability to pass quality progressive passes.

Allen has been very good but Grimes is best in the role he is in now and is better at it.

It's a toss up really isn't it? Both played well recently. Both were shit last night

I'm not basing my opinion on just last night, that wouldn't be fair to any of the players. I've pretty much written it off.

He played in a more advanced role in his entire career here prior to his recent run of games, that's where he's most effective is running on beyond the forward or between the lines.

Watch Torp, he still gets shrugged off the ball far too easy on occasion.
Like I say, light years ahead of where he was start of the season but still got work to do.

Once the injured players are back I don't think Allen or Torp will be starting.

I'm not taking away from Allen that he's been good recently, BTA has too, but I really don't see these guys starting regularly with everyone fit, which is ok btw. Lampard hasn't brought in Grimes to keep the likes of Allen in the team.

Yes. Watched him as part of a team that actually got to the play offs so the experience he has is also handy.

Let's see if Sheaf can get back to the Sheaf of old and not this seasons Sheaf.

Not sure how that makes him strong on the ball but this is a pro Allen thread so I’ll leave it there.

Yes that's absolutely what we need to see.

A few players have regained form under FL and I'd back Sheaf to be another one

So that makes him Hulk Hogan does it?

That's right, it's a boolean choice.
You're either weaker than Victor torp or hulk hogan!

Yeah, he played there but he isn't good enough to do it at the level we want to be at.

I'm not sure where he played in the past has anything to do with this as he just isn't good enough in that role.

He doesn't have the technical ability to player higher in this team at the level we want to be at.

Fair play he has done well but he has reinvented himself as a safety first 5 yard passer of the ball in the past month because he lacks the technical ability to play a more progressive game at this level.

At the beginning of the season Allen had a heart scare. That's barely 4 months ago. Yet for the last month he has run around like a Jack Russell for the team. I have a lot of respect for him and was thrilled that out of all the players in the Championship, he has made the top 4.

Back to the 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 for me now. Grimes and Allen in the middle. Grimes with the ball on a string and Allen to do the running. Perfect
