Tbf if we were looking to “rebuild in the summer”, if we were looking at actual progression, Palmer wouldn’t be starting games either.

Palmer got himself out of jail on Saturday for standing in the right place and heading in a goal. Before that, like Allen, he was completely anonymous.

I agree both were poor on Saturday, but being in the right place to score a goal is a pretty important attribute for an attacking midfielder.

Both have different games. To make out one is vastly superior to the other is idiotic.

Reminds me of the old Moore vs. Wilson nonsense.

Which Allen has achieved more than palmer this season.

When Robins complains about the impact of SBT on players we can have this conversation.

Which he sort of did with the Todd Kane rumours and SBB’s sudden silence on here.

Yeah, and Jamie Allen isn't going to fulfill Arsenal's criteria! But it's just strange when people use running around as a derogatory phrase when putting the miles in is now part of the game more than ever.

Adequate. What praise. Can’t wait to get up the CBS and be on the edge of my seat for some adequacy.

Adequate over 90 minutes is sometimes considered better than being involved for 15 minutes then on a country ramble for the remaining 75

I dread to think where we would be this season without Allen's endeavour, especially in the absence of O'Hare. What a player does off the ball is equally as important as on the ball. If you analysed every player's off the ball work I am sure Allen would be top. His stamina is incredible, game after game. He also makes intelligent runs off the ball that opens up space for others. Although I have questioned his role as captain in another thread, the fact that he has shifted from alleged bomb squad to leading the team is testimony to his character. His versatility is also an asset.

It’s not that it’s derogatory, just funny that that’s all his defenders can mention so it became a meme.

Are Kasey palmers actual stats significantly better then Allen’s?

The effect of groaning from the stands has been discussed, but I reckon social media knockers (!) with a constant drip feed of negative critiques have at least as much potential impact on a player’s confidence. It’s naïve to think that opinions expressed on places like this don’t filter through. Some of the things written, seemingly in all seriousness, are just outrageous. To forge a football career at this level, where the standard is awesome even if some people think they could do better, every single player has proven ability.

Hopefully everyone in the team listens a lot more to the manager than to sniping on the internet. Let’s not forget they all go on the pitch to carry out detailed instructions that we don’t get to hear, and Jamie Allen obviously does what Robins asks of him very well.

tbf, any manager worth their salt would probably instruct their players not to read sites like this. Also tbf we need some space to have a difference of opinion. If we all agreed how good everyone was, then (especially as the finances might actually become kind of normal) this would be a very boring place indeed!

I like the criticism to be rooted in some basis however(!)

I’m afraid when you sign Keith Houchen from Scunthorpe for £80,000 and you sign Kevin Drinkell fron Norwich for £1 million and the former delivers even the same as the latter - it’s kind of disappointing

It’s very easy for players not to go on a fans site and search their name. It’s a bit harder to miss in the stadium.

Yeah, there's fair criticism for individual performances or specific weaknesses, but we do also get ridiculous serial attacks on some players (as per your OP), and I'd be amazed if they were oblivious to it.

We do clearly know and when Allen is performing as well as a £20 grand a week player what’s that telling you?

Sorry the other claim is he has a high completion percentage, which I’ve explained I don’t see as a good thing in his position. I’m not sure I agree he’s a top goal scorer or gets us moving quicker TBH.

Well firstly he’s not. And Palmer isn’t on £20k and you know it. Again, why bring Palmer up? Can’t you defend him on his own merits?

Hes as good as palmer on every stat and palmer was hawked around like something in a car boot sale by Bristol who openly revealed his contract at £20k a week which we’ve clearly contributed to settle

he’s far more expensive and contributes no more in any stats - and normally you love stats don’t you?

So basically you claim nobody brings up anything other than running because that's the only asset you agree with, not that they don't bring up other attributes.

He doesn't get us moving quicker, that's his biggest fault. Though that aspect of his game started to improve earlier in the season though he's now gone backwards.
Perhaps that's down to confidence?

He certainly gives his all, but he just doesn't have the quality to truly influence games. For me, only in because of poor Callum's injury. Does worry me that he gets the arm band too.

We signed Kevin Drinkell from Glasgow Rangers for £800k

But yes it was a lot of money for a player who's legs had gone.

But if we'd only of supported him more he might of been the new Pele'
