Reading Robin's quotes it looks like he wants to sign him:

He will put his head in, go and tackle, get tight on people and win things for you, so he has got all those attributes and is someone I am keen to keep an eye on and hopefully we can get him fit for a while and be able to develop him.

Why would you say the last bit about a trialist a week before the season?

*Couldnt find the thread about him so started this

I'd imagine they're sorting the deal out now and it will be signed when Turnbull leaves.

Yes..........

I'd say the doubts over signing him are fitness-related.

I might have missed it through the rain but wasn't Ball on Hyam mostly? The trialist was right sided centre half. Obviously the odd occasion but ball seemed to be on the right of their attack.

Ball took the big guy out on the halfway line when they both went up for a high challenge
Ball looked for our guy and cynically played the man. He was down for ages getting treatment. I guess Robins wants defenders who dish it out rather than being on the receiving end

Yeah he did foul him then but I meant in terms of the whole match, he generally wasn't on him.

He was a different type of player to Pearson, he looks to be less of a ball player but stronger / more aggressive.

I agree generally he looks a decent footballer in the Cian Harries mould
But in League 2 he'd be up against guys giving him the treatment Ball meted out every other week. The centre half union also have an unwritten rule that you only show you're hurt if it's so bad they have to carry you off on a stretcher

It's a strange one though on a trial, it's hard to start giving it the DKE approach and smashing everybody in case it then looks bad.

He didn't seem to have that aggression where he would run through a wall, whereas Pearson was throwing the MK Dons striker, (Agard I think it was) around like a rag doll.

He looked like he ought to be in Jedward.....I think MR has missed a trick, his stupid barnet would distract the opposition who would be standing around pointing and laughing whilst we catch a march on them

Anyone else thinking he'll be the next signing, as Turnbull has now gone on loan?

Just been reading JP's wiki, it says he was out injured the whole of last season, this might be the "fitness" MR was talking about?

Hopefully gets over his injuries we need as many nasty loud mouthed footballers on the pitch as possible as we are going to war in this division

I would like Pearson to sign tho I want a fit Pearson. There sounds like there has been 1 or 2 minor set backs since his long lay off that MR and his team are closely managing and not rushing his return to full fitness.

I hope it all works out well as he has the key ingredients we would welcome

No point in going in a mad panic to get one in if he is going to spend the season injured.

I suppose it's all about opinions, will Pearson spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch, we can't afford that. Is Willis staying or going ? Strange we are after a bargain centre half and one local lad on our doorstep, Lewis Ison, is good enough to be signed by 1st division Bristol Rovers, a club with a bit of money behind them I believe, but not 2nd division Coventry City, will be watching that one with interesting.

Did we give him a chance? I saw him once I think and I thought he was ok but that was two levels up so should be a world beater now

Yeah he wasn't particularly awful, unlike some of the LOLfests we've had like Lee Sawyer and ROD. I think he caught a bit of stick as a scapegoat around the time that Thorn was fired.
