Leicester offering a new contract to Maddison doubling his wages presumably to stop him leaving. Personaly think he would be mad to go to man u

Leicester have opened initial talks with James Maddison over a bumper new contract subject of interest from Manchester United.

The star midfielder is set to double his wages if both parties can come to an agreement.

Leicester are better than man utd, and hes settled with business interests locally, so I'd be suprised if he moves on.

Can’t agree chaps. If Manchester United come in for you and you turn it down plus a higher salary then you must be potty. Do you think Utd won’t be challenging again the next couple of seasons? Leicester won’t be challenging long term for anything.

just my opinion of course.

They would have to beat Uniteds pay range and Pogba is currently on £190,000 per week so I dont think Leicester could get near what they will offer and if they did it would cause problems in the Leicester camp! Vardy would want at least parity if not more and on it goes until they would not be vi.able

Not sure Man United is the right step, Tottenham or Liverpool maybe... but still think he should see out the season at Leicester

It’s mental to suggest any player wouldn’t be attracted to Man Utd.

If United lose at Sheffield United this weekend I think Ole will be gone especially with pochettino available.
Personally think he should stay at Leicester whilst Ole is at United, but if he moves on and as I expect poch is installed as manager, poch will develop his career and improve man utd as a footballing team so maddison would flourish in one of the worlds largest clubs

He only has to ask Maguire if it was really worth it. Better off holding out for even more from a team in the ascendancy and not one in a perpetual identity crisis

Don't be a prick.

Man Utd arent what they used to be under Fergie, I wouldn't be tempted either.

Look at Maguire, he wouldn't get in Leicester's team now.

and yet he starts every England international (despite not being a stalwart if the England underage teams either). Maddison can’t get near the starting XI and finds himself behind Tottenham reserves (Winka) a Chelsea teenager (Mount) and a Liverpool player who’s hardly played in 2 years because of injury (Oxlade Chanberlian). If Maddison is bothered abt an international career with England (and he can’t now switch time Ireland either) he might well see a move to a traditionally big club as important.

Ill bow to your experience of football as a 14 year old. Now climb back behind your keyboard and grow the fuck up. I personaly think a move to Man U at this current time is a wrong move given the mess they are in. We all have opinions but some of us can talk about them as adults some like yourself are just arseoles who like to pick a fight behind a keyboard

Leicester are currently superior to Manchester United, and for what it’s worth they seem to be going the right way about staying at the top end for a substantial period.

I’ll get slated on here for it, but fair play to them. Football in this country needs a shake up, and knocking one or two of the “big 6” down a peg would be a great start...

You can't say no if man Utd come calling and if he supports them then it would be even harder. He would probably double his wages there. Some good young players there and they could still spend mega bucks but I don't think Ole is the man to do it.

Don’t think Maddison would move for money, it will be to win things, play champions league football on a regular basis and cement his international career. Leicester are a very good team well manged but sell top players on a regular basis. Man United are floundering a bit at the moment but we all know they will be back. If it was me and if i had the choice I’d plump for United, Man City or Liverpool of those three Liverpool.

It's still a trend in football to offer these wanted players bigger contracts if big clubs are linked or extend players contracts even if they aren't necessarily players you want to keep. It's the accountants running football.
Higher wages drives up Maddison s transfer value.
Leicester have to be laughing. If they could squeeze utd for 80 odd million for Maguire (then replace him with a 20 million pound player) then Maddison is a dream for them

Still irks me that a Coventry born player, who lived in Coventry all his young life, and played for Coventry from an early age, doesn't support Coventry ?!

Is he more likely to get England game time if he were to play for a Manure or Spurs etc?

Theres no way that Mason Mount should be ahead of Madders in an England shirt, but does he play because of the 'popularity' of his parent club?

I don't think Man U will be winning much if anything at all for the foreseeable, I think that all their league rivals have better squads. Man U are on a par with the Wolves and Everton type team in my eyes. I'd sack Ole, and go with Poch, get them being an attractive team to watch again, start being a team that players want to go to for the right reasons and not because they pay an absolute fortune.

Fair enough. (Replying to comment
at bottom)
It did come across a bit strong for a well balanced thread, but we'll done for your latter comment.
Back to the question - I would hope Maddison would be more focused on his career than just money. Everything we've seen so far - Norwich, Scotland then Leicester suggest a sensible approach to building his career.
Next steps - as jimmyhillsbeard says, madders will want to be an established England player and be involved in the squad for 2020 tournament. Will he get the chance staying at Leicester or would he have a better chance at a so-called glamour club, man u, Liverpool ....
He will also be thinking about champions League and Europa cup...and, if, as widely reported, he is a united fan, then that will have some influence.
If I was advising him, I'd wait until January - is ole still manager (if so, stay at Leicester), if poch, probably go to United. Or, will someone else come in for him?

In regards to the argument of playing for England... Chilwell has played 11 times for England since last September so it's not because he plays for Leicester that he's not been picked... Its more to do with Southgate and his Mason mount love in
