Coventry City trial
On 15th July 2012, Beattie began a trial with relegated Championship club Coventry City. The forward who has been out of contract since leaving Sheffield United joined up with the Sky Blues for their pre-season tour of Scotland. Beattie has 3 games in which to impress Coventry manager Andy Thorn.

Seems worryingly feasible..I thought he was OK at Palace(?) in a few games I saw him play and wouldn't be any more underwhelmed than I was by the signing of Elliott. I'd rather sign a funky French striker we've never heard of...

If AT can get his head straight he could be the missing piece. A target man who can score aswell. However he seems a bit of an idiot.
The only way it would work, would be, if he knew his career was about to end and wanted to go out with a bang. With his head in the right place he can be instopable.

Just wish the info was from a decent source. I heard he had been offered a pay as you pay deal as Shef Utd

Well AT already said that business would be done when they return from their Scottish tour so this is rubbish.

Unless the tour is to view his potential and the contract is ready signed pending a successful tour?!?

Not out of the question. Would be a good backup option. Can't find any evidence it is true though.

If he couldn't do it at Sheff United I don't think he'll do it at any club. He went back there on sentimental grounds, but it didn't work out. Not the answer imo

I think money would be better invested elsewhere. He did nothing at Sheffield United in his second stint other than get sent off and injured. Rob Earnshaw would be a better signing.

so we have no idea if this true or not? beattie i think would do ok job, definatly a differnt option to Cody and Elliot. However he has not been same player so would need to get fit and trim again last time i saw him he was carrying weight.

To be fair to him, he's only started 13 games in 2 seasons between those 3 clubs.

The fact Sheff Utd are looking like promotion candidates and don't want him speaks volumes to me.

To be fair he has scored a lot more goals than O'Donovan has made appearances in his career!

Don't trust it at any point, aside from reading about things that have already happened. Current events on Wikipedia are a shitstorm of bullshit and idiocy.

Sheffield United are more skint than we are. They have shed a lot of their higher earners from last year. To be honest, I've just had a look at their current squad on Wikipedia and there are not many players that I would take over what we have.
