Sign him up! Would be a good addition to the midfield in combination with Vincelot. Thomas and Fleck not good enough IMO. That would let Fleck play behind the striker.

Would also like to sign Pennington, another winger and 2 strikers including a nippy little guy and a big man.

If the budget is tight.
It is a shame he is a good player in an area where we have strength.

GK, ST and wingers need the cash

He did well for us before I thought. A few weeks ago before vincelot and lameries I would have argued for TM signing him. But right now we are crying out for a striker or two and a keeper (either to replace or push burge).

Why not sign him AND the strikers and winger we need AND Penno. The money must be there as currently the squad is still much smaller than last year.

Quality not quantity. Last year went really well for us.

It is a shame that i think we need to concentrate all remaining budget on 2/3 strikers and 1/2 pacey wingers/att midfielders. Otherwise he would make a good signing. I just dont think it makes sense to bring him in if it means we could afford all the above thats required.

Wasn't the same player for us after he got injured and came back to us for the 2nd stint of his loan.

No better than Vincelot or Fleck so would rather spend the money on some goal scorers!

Yeah, totally agree. He was great for us before he got injured, but then when he returned to the side he just wasn't the same player after.

Completely different type of player to Fleck though.

To be fair we released Carl Baker and people still cream themselves over him.

Equal in terms of quality and impact though. Distinctly average on both counts.

What's with our obsession of wanting to re-sign ex-players all the time?

because we as Cov fans love to follow our ex players for some bizarre reason.

Carl Baker was average at best i felt he always tried to do too much. But bloody hell just because he posts on facebook pusb does not make him a club legend!

If Carl Baker is a Sky Blue Legend then so is Ellery Cairo!

Think that possibly coincided with the change of manager.
Maybe Robins got more out of him than Pressley

That would be logical but he was poor under robins in that second stint too (7 games). In fact looking back at the stats we played 7, won 2, drew 1 and lost 4 in that period conceding 12, scoring 7.

We don't need to waste money on another defensive midfielder. Bailey has never really lived to expectations after he moved to Derby from Crewe and considering the youthfulness of Barnsley's squad, he must of been bad for them to release him.

No, he went off the boil when Robins was still here.

I quite liked him but really don't think he's much or any better than what we have got.

Really surprised how much people rated him here, thought he and Jennings were both bang average players. Certainly not better than what we have, compete waste of money.

There were by no means great players, but under Robins they performed as good as any midfield pairing we've had in our time in League One. The system helped both of them excel beyond their ability, allowing them to concentrate on protecting the back four, ticking over possession and starting attacks. Hopefully Vincelot and Fleck can do the same.

Doesn't that apply to nearly all League 1 footballers though?

Robins era we didn't play great IMO. Relied a lot on the individual quality of McGoldrick and Baker. Thomas and Fleck at the start of 13/14 were far far superior to Jennjngs and Bailey.

The Robins era was a much better quality of football than at any time during the Pressley era. If anything Pressley relied on the individual quality of Clarke and Wilson.

I thought Robins was very lucky to have McGoldrick. Without him I don't think we'd be lauding him like we do. Or like some do.

Sorry, but not a chance. Start of 13/14 was far far superior to anything Robins done here.

Yes it is. Pressley had us playing great stuff, Robins' football was quite direct.

Also Robins had a much bigger squad to choose from.

Yeah loved him, as technically gifted a footballer you'll ever see at this level. Great range of passing, great character on social media which these days is vital. Never made a mistake and tbh, letting him go was the catalyst for our downfall under Pressley.

Do you forget us playing the league leaders off the park at their ground when we beat donny 4-1? We were better with Robins than Pressley.

I'm not sticking up for SP as he was crap for the majority of his spell here, but we also beat league leaders at the time Leyton Orient 3-1 so...
