In relative terms, but they couldn't sign anyone last season for PSR rules.

We’d sell if an offer came in for around £18-22M.

there's no evidence newcastle are anywhere near bidding and they are much bigger fish to fry than a 5 choice midfielder right now

He will indeed but what a terrible body blow for our record amount of ST owners that would be. Clubs would immediately inflate their prices on players knowing we had big money and with 3 weeks left in the window what could we realistically achieve to replace him.

In the same way we'll inflate our price knowing Newcastle will have CL football and a big fee coming for their striker.
You're right, it will be a blow, but I'd be amazed if there isn't already a contingency plan in place.

Finger crossed we can get another season out of him though.

Think people are setting themselves up for disappointment here. How many players turn down a Premier League move and the life changing money that comes with it? How many EFL club owners turn down £20m offers for players?

Personally don't buy into the idea he will just not want to move because Lampard is here or King won't sell for less than £30m.

The best chance of him staying here for the season is that no PL club comes in and make a serious offer.

Yes but it's Bellingham's age as much as his brother's fame that set his price. Rudi won't be in the same ballpark, unfortunately.

My two pence worth - Jack as far as I can see is happy at Cov - if he has a good season and we do not go up I can see him going - if however another club came and wanted to spend 25-30 M his head will naturally turn - that’s a big personal signing on fee for him and secures his financial future - if Cov turned that opportunity down does anyone think he would be happy ? 20 M to me is the minimum for him

Look at what they're still (even yesterday) saying about Gyokeres, played for Coventry in the Championship etc etc. The snobbery of the PL plays big and Rudi's not even been through the England youth setup. I'll stick my neck out and say nobody will come in for him with a serious offer.

I think it might not be a straight yes from rudoni. He will be torn as doing well at cov and clearly loves lampard as his manager

If he goes and we get 20m plus so be it but I'm not giving up on him staying yet

It wasn't a dig at Rushworth. Yes, he is very highly rated, but from the two games so far he doesn't look like an upgrade on Dovin, I would say they were on par with each other. Dovin cost around £1.5m, £5.5m for a keeper in the championship is silly money.

They didn’t join Coventry because Jack Rudoni is at the club.

Frank knows every player has a price and if he gets the vast majority of the cash for transfers that builds the overall quality of the squad. It’s the model…

The lads done well. Robins had him playing wingback not that long ago....
He'd be best improving his craft with Lampard and playing another full year here. Jump too soon and he could end up as a (rich) squad player.

He has been here 2 weeks and played 2 friendlies. Dovin initially also wasnt as good at the start as he was before he got injured. Judge Rushworth once he has played half a season and in my opinion will prove to be better than Dovin.

Yep agreed. We go on about profit, but £15m profit in a year will be too good to refuse. Ideally I'd like to see them hold out for £25m but just cant see it.

The 'English tax' isn't on English players, it's the cost of dealing with English clubs.

We all bemoan Sky at times, but their money has supercharged the Premiership clubs financials as the TV money is distributed equally, which isn't the norm in the other elite leagues globally. In countries like France and Italy, Prem clubs need to sell players as part of their 'business plan' in the absence of less lucrative broadcasting rights.

In relation to Jobe Bellingham, his value probably doubled as soon as the final whistle blew on the playoff final.

I'm not sure on that last statement. He was already being touted around at £25m before that.

We got that fee for Vik 2 years ago, for a player in the last year of his contract. Rudoni is younger than Vik was, English, and 3 years still to go on the deal. Adding another £10m onto it on that basis is fair.

If Newcastle come in you make them pay through the nose, simple as that really. Heck, the fact that he'd be deemed Newcastle standard makes it £25 million just to get around the table imo.

Not only that, but Sheff Utd paid £15 mill for the kebab hound also in his last year, to put Rudoni as just £5 mill higher is a bit daft.

King hasn't sold anyone for what i would consider a disappointing fee so far, i guess wait and see, they might not even firm up their interest anyway.

I agree, we got very good prices for Vik and Hamer considering the contract situation and that they were determined to leave. The impression I get is that Rudoni is on Newcastle's shortlist, but you don't know how high up the list he is or which players need to leave before they put in an offer.

If they do, rinse them for as much as possible. No doubt that Big Doug will do that.

Indeed they would but would Kings valuation match those on there. And there's an element of strike while the iron is hot. Last summer we were having similar discussions about holding on to Sheaf and not letting him go for less than £10-15m, no mention of that this summer.

You're taking a risk as a club owner that he maintains / improves the form he ended the season with and doesn't get injured. If you're running the club 'sensibly' from a business perspective you're taking the offer and reinvesting it.

Best case scenario take the money and get him loaned back for a season of guaranteed football.

But this all assumes this is anything more than paper talk and / or an agent hyping him up.

We can hold off against Southampton but holding off Newcastle is a different kettle of fish.

Also if we get an offer of £20/25m for a player we paid £4m for 12 months ago he goes. And similar to Gus and Vik we don't replace directly but with 2 CAMs, 1 LW and some change. All together we may be a poorer side up to Christmas but come the end of the season we'll be stronger.
