It wasn't a dig at Rushworth. Yes, he is very highly rated, but from the two games so far he doesn't look like an upgrade on Dovin, I would say they were on par with each other. Dovin cost around £1.5m, £5.5m for a keeper in the championship is silly money.

I'm not sure on that last statement. He was already being touted around at £25m before that.The 'English tax' isn't on English players, it's the cost of dealing with English clubs.
We all bemoan Sky at times, but their money has supercharged the Premiership clubs financials as the TV money is distributed equally, which isn't the norm in the other elite leagues globally. In countries like France and Italy, Prem clubs need to sell players as part of their 'business plan' in the absence of less lucrative broadcasting rights.

I agree, we got very good prices for Vik and Hamer considering the contract situation and that they were determined to leave. Indeed they would but would Kings valuation match those on there. And there's an element of strike while the iron is hot. Last summer we were having similar discussions about holding on to Sheaf and not letting him go for less than £10-15m, no mention of that this summer.the PL club wuld still have to pay what we want for him
