Funny old career with us, eh?

Feted as a bright prospect, broke into the first team (out of position?) with less than impressive results, then faded away to oblivion.

Too quick to make the first team, or just not very good in the first place? SlowerthanPlatt, you watch the U18s and co. a lot, did Finch stand out back then?

Shit. Finch leaving reduces the opportunity to reference The Office massively, at least until Tom Oggmonster signs his professional deal.

He was the lynchpin of my promotion winning side in FM Mobile. And for that I thank him.

He's bloody good in FM14.

That said, Burge is starring for Swansea in the top flight in my FM game, and Jackson blew everyone away wih his pace...

We have 'a new dawn' until The first game in l2 but I'm not sure how far that one will stretch

He will end up being a Billy Daniels I think. Maybe a Conference team next year or Nuneaton.

I think we are missing a trick - when JF came on against Wycombe as a defensive midfielder sitting in front of the defence, he was really good - another case of the round peg/square hole syndrome.
Should make him an offer - more than useful if played in his best position.

How the hell have some of these players such as Finch made to the stage where somebody has offered them a professional contract? Just laughable.

We specialize in playing players out of position and then concluding they are useless.
It's all due to mismanagement.
Too many specialists for one position, so someone has to be shoehorned elsewhere, or too many changes in formation disrupting everyone's role and position.

I thought he played really well in that game too. The problem is that apart from playing under Pressley when he looked off the pace and ineffectual, he has rarely featured under any other manager. He doesn't seem to be rated by any of them.

He strikes me as a player who was bigger than the rest through the younger years but is a bit short on ability and it has caught him up.

He was dire, couldn't pass 5/10 yards to a team mate when he came on vs Cardiff in the league cup IIRC?

Good luck, but good riddance.

Yep that's what I think too. Same with Nathan Cameron he looked like a genuine talent at youth level but hasn't reached the levels I thought he would. Still had an okay career though.

Looking at CCFC youth teams now they're usually smaller in stature than other teams. The U18s definitely didn't win the league by bullying other teams, they won it through sheer hard work and excellent football which is good to see.

Trouble is that doesn't really suit for the level we've just spent five years at or the one we're about to adopt.
Re Finch he'll probably end up at the Borough on £200 more than Kelly Evans has been offered by us.
Billy Daniels purported to be on £800 a week there.

Wish him luck but he is a poor player glad he is gone - may be able to forge a career at conference level at best will be surprised if he ever surpasses playing at league 1 level for sure.

Explains why so many non league clubs have gone bust. Was talking to my mate who had a really good non league career, mentioned what you said about DKE and boro, he said it was a no brainer and that DKE would be stupid to go boro. Very difficult to break back into league football once you're out, and the facilities, medical treatment, support staff etc is far superior at city.

Trouble is Stu a young lad like that who wants to get married and start a family will find it difficult to accept such an offer with no guarantee of the bonus 's,and appearance fee add ons, on top of it being a short career.

True, but there are no guarantees in football and we're not talking a substantial difference after tax, etc. They are still very young, and could afford to take a chance for another year or 2.
