Think we got to the final against West Ham few years back too. Unfortunately they had Joe Cole who won the match on his own Think we lost by about 6

Yep - remember watching that (Cole was already a first teamer and they brought him back for that, otherwise they'd only have beaten us by 4 ) Interesting to see what ourline up was that night - might google it shortly!

Wasn't it amazing, the atmosphere around the club at that time. Great timing for me, it was really my first complete season where I managed to go every game.

I remember how exciting it was - I used to get in as soon as the gates opened, sit next to my mate who was a steward, and just watch the whole thing build...

Bastards, what happened to all those years since? I've been done!

Was it not a west ham side that also included john terry and frank lampard??

Pretty sure we faced (and lost) to arsenal after that too, a game in which the aforementioned jay bothroyd played in. Season after the west ham game?

87 against Charlton, 1-0 over 13000 there, Steve Livingstone got the winner if i remember correctly, from there to the Barras Club beers to celebrate, same as i did all day the following Saturday.
WTF happened?
So much promise in a year, so little to show!

No, carrick, Richard Garcia and Stephen Bywater played though.

And yes we lost 5-1 on aggregate to arsenal the year after - Bothroyd and Graham Barrett played as did steve sidwell, graham stack, Liam Chilvers (plays for port vale), Rohan Ricketts and Jerome Thomas.

Ended up playing for Solihull Moors (or think it may have been Moor Green - one half of their predecessors) and Sphinx so can't have been that good. When you compare what our squad went on to to West Hams on that day it's no winder we got spanked.

Having said that, McSheffrey aside, clearly a lot of unfulfilled promise in that team.

I'll give you that one. Davenport played a number of times in the prem too prior to his troubles.

Yep, Craig Pead too until an injury forced him to retire at 27.
