Are the wheels starting to come off on our promotion – We all seem to be pretty certain of league 1 not playing on, but now the likes of Oxford have thrown their hat in the ring and want to play on – There are a number of teams sitting on the fence that could be enticed last minute -no doubt the clubs that want to finish season have been constantly in touch with these clubs to swing there vote. The premier league have now also come out and said that there may be no relegation from the premier league ? Where does that leave Leeds and West brom, and then of course ,ore importently the effect on our league- It’s not over yet

I could be wrong, but how I’ve read things is we only need 51% of the Championship vote to finish the EFL season on PPG for us to be promoted. If we don’t get the 51% then it goes to a league 1 vote. Can anyone correct/confirm this?

Wheels coming off? Got to say, that’s a bit of an embarrassing statement when you’re talking about it through PPG. If we’d had the chance to play (and lose games)... that’s wheels coming off. If it gets voted that we have to play on, we play on. It’s just delaying the inevitable. I can’t see that happening though.

Play on and complete play offs?

to mind if the season continues it should replicate what should have happened had we carried on from March. No cramming in fixtures or that nonsense. Also wait for fans to be allowed as playing behind closed doors is far more of a disadvantage to us than others given our excellent away support. The only fair way to continue the season is to restart at exactly the same tune as we stopped this year

Each league initially votes on if to continue or not so 12 votes in league 1 is decisive - I suspect Tranmere and Southend will refuse to vote

Quite frankly playing on is as artificial as PPG

It’s been delayed far to long already - I would have thought by now the efl would have been looking how to make next season work rather than sitting on their hands

I think the 71 clubs have to vote on the EFL's proposals
So there has to be a simple majority of all three divisions to sanction the overall plans
Then the individual divisions vote on the options for their division
    That's my understanding at least...........

Well let'hope the CET aren't in charge of the official count.
    Extract from today's article......

Oxford United yesterday made clear that they will stand with Rotherham United and Sunderland in voting to play on for the final nine games.
Meanwhile, AFC Wimbledon, Rotherham United, Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town all say they will vote in favour of ending the season now.
t's hope the CET aren't in charge of the official count.

I have had my doubts about relegation from the Premiership for a while the big question is will the Prem increase the clubs in it for a season or two to 22 or 23. The EFL have covered themselves a bit this week by saying there will be promotion and relegation throughout their divisions just a case of how they do it but they have no say in what happens in the Prem. But if as I suspect the Premiership curtail relegation I think the same will happen down the leagues but teams will be promoted.

There was a representative of the PL on the news last night saying that no decision had been taken on relegation from that league yet. It does cast a shadow. You would hope the FA are strong enough to stand up to the PL and insist that their earlier pledge is carried through.

Try hard as I might I really can’t see football carrying on. If clubs wanna vote for it, fair enough, 27 points in most cases to play for, they deserve a chance.

It’s the same as voting to cripple your club to pay for tests. Have at it then. It’s not happening.

Premier league are back in training for a BCD finish though like the Bundesliga. They can't play 38 games then drop relegation.

This guy admitted that there was a possibility that the games may not be played and so was asked how would the league would then be sorted out.

Fair enough. I think the pressure of giving Liverpool the league would mean they go ppg.

Even if they do drop relegation from the PL (which they won't), they're a separate body, I can still see promotion and relegation between the EFL divisions.

A lot of clubs seem to be making noise but the reality is why would you spend close to a million pound to play out the season, especially for the top 6, midtable teams and those so far cut adrift it's not even worth it (Southend and Bolton).

I would hope that too but I could still see a scenario where Liverpool, Leeds, ourselves and Swindon are declared champions but for the latter three, no promotion. This would satisfy Liverpool with only Leeds then holding any real clout.

Think League 1 clubs know pretty much the vote will go having gauged the mood of what meetings there have been - Peterborough's owners seemed to have given up as soon as the EFL announcement was made this week.

Stop panicking everyone! The season is over!
Fears of a second wave, fluctuating R levels,
People still dying, lack of testing time and facilities,
    Differing R levels throughout England,
The extra costs of testing, numerous players being unavailable, the unnecessary risk of exposure, the threat of legal action should anyone get the virus due to playing, etc etc etc, it's just not going to happen.

although it may appear peculiar I am pretty certain that Tranmere are not strongly in favour of completing the season. from the bits and pieces I have picked up they appear to be relatively philosophical about their fate.

I think a first vote is to approve PPG as a permanent option going forward where seasons can't be finished in future, if that gets the ok League 1 clubs then vote for this season whether to adopt that or play on

I tell you what, forget this season (I think it’ll be PPG), but if a new season starts and this comes back and we have to stop the season again, that’s kind of worrying. I’d be worried about being in the bottom 3 at any point in a season, but once you’ve completed 50% or so, I’d be shitting it!

I am don’t think Premiership won’t relegate teams on ppg I reckon the FA would accept that so long as Prem is increased to 22, whether they go to 23 might be another thing.

No way teams who are not playing for anything are going to put up any genuine fight in any games...would make a complete mockery of the end to the season and would be less fair than ending the season now based on PPG.
For me simplest way is for PPG with top 2 teams going up and then playoff teams having 3 games (2xsemi and a final) at neutral venue over 2 weekends in late June or early July. Failing that a penalty kick competition for teams in play offs only

It's just common snse, it must end now. I'm also begining to take the view that the top 3 go up and there are no play off's however unfortunate to the other 3 in the play off position.
