Where I would be absolutely gutted if we didn’t make a sustained and serious assault on the autos… this league on what we have seen so far is there for the taking, some underperforming big sides and some absolute dross

Genuinely believe on our day we are the best team in the division

Can't remember who posted Lamp's record at Coventry, but it was pretty impressive.
Let's hope he can keep up the PPG.

We are and our starting 11 is up there with the best-unfortunately the drop off when one of our big hitters gets injured is the issue.

This time last year Blackburn were unbeaten in 2nd.
I'm not saying we have less reason for optimism than they did because this side is clearly better than theirs but it is very early days.

Last year there were two teams substantially better than us, Leeds and Burnley. Leeds gave us a mullering at home. There were two other good teams we were capable of beating on our day Sheffield Utd and Sunderland but whom we could easily lose to

This year I don't see anybody who we are not capable of beating away, even Middlesborough. The relegated sides who normally bounce back are not firing on all cylinders, and other big clubs like Norwich and Watford clearly have problems.

This could be the year when we have a great chance

You could say that about any side in world football when they have injuries to key players

We had no Mason-Clark and no Rudoni on Saturday and we’d have still been a match for anyone the way we played - Yes we were playing against 10 men, but we were still the miles better side beforehand

Don’t think we’ll have any problems amassing home points. Away I’d like us to take a higher % of our chances. We’ll definitely be there or thereabouts re the play offs.

Maybe we cool the auto chat for a while, but there’s definitely not 6 better teams than us.

Think we got away with missing rudoni and EMC against Birmingham,we can’t afford to not have them against the better teams, squad still worries me, we must be looking at doing something in january ?

Play-Offs should be the minimum expectation with what we have at our disposal in all honesty and I’d go as far as saying if we fell short of the Top 6 it would be a huge failure to be honest

This is not the old Coventry City - We are not the plucky little underdog we were a couple of seasons ago, we have laid out a lot of money over the last few seasons, knocked back approaches for some of our top talent who are being coached by a top manager and backroom staff

I can’t explain it but something feels different about this season and I just think we have a major opportunity this season to do something special

Far too early & circumstances can change really quickly

Last season we got 27 points in 10 games then followed it up with 13 points in the next 10

We've got a team we should believe in, but you've only got to look at the Millwall thread to see how many fuckin wets would settle for a point before a balls even been kicked.

Bunch of pussies all of them.

It is also how I feel but then you look at the table and realise that if Millwall in 11th beat us tomorrow they go above us straight to 3rd. It’s still so early!

Its not just been 7 games though has it, its been 10 months since Lampard took over.

Look at our form over those 10 months.

We might well lose tomorrow, it’s a tough game and of course over the course of the season we are going to lose matches

But even if we do it doesn’t change what I think

I just think seasons like this at this level where the relegated sides look very ordinary compared to years gone by, clubs like Sheff United down the bottom after 8 games and other established sides (Norwich, Blackburn, WBA) not really looking up to much are going to be few and far between at this level

Take into account that the Birmingham and Wrexham projects are still in their infancy and they will only improve as they stay in the division - It just feels like a real opportunity to take the league by the scruff of the neck and make a real push this year

Everyone speaks about a closed shop and it being impossible to compete but I don’t see that this season and we need to take the opportunity if it’s not the case

It's not getting to the point just yet. 7 games played 39 more to go, far too early let's just enjoy the season and keep the pressure off and the good vibes going

Still think Ipswich win the league, but we’ve got as much of a chance of 2nd as anyone. Injuries could kill us though. Get to Jan in top 4 and bring a couple in, I’d say we’d have a good go at it

It's gonna be much smaller points tally for autos and play offs etc. That's clear.

Ridiculous the amount of draws..in each game week..this has to be record.

I don’t ’expect’ anything - But we cannot keep living off the fact that we have come from the doldrums, that was an old-CCFC under an old regime still scarred from years of turmoil

The 2023 side was in all honesty, a side of limited players who were performing admirably above their ceiling that had two tremendous footballers at this level to supplement them - Led by a manager who had no real experience of anything above the mid-to-lower table of the Championship who had built the club from scratch from the bottom

This side has had a lot of money spent on it, has been crafted by the owner, head coach and recruitment department to take us to the Premier League and is being lead by one of the biggest names in the sport who has been exposed to elite level football as a player and coach

The League 1/2 days are and will always be a part of our history but we can’t keep dwelling on them, it’s the past - The ambition around the club has changed and I will say this, I reckon there would be a lot of fans of other clubs in this division who would view our season as a bit of a failure if we were not bang in the mix this season

It's not dwelling, not my part anyway

It just shouldn't be an expectation. Maybe for parachute clubs but not us. Winning a league or finishing runners up isn't easy and it shouldn't be expected

But hope or even quiet confidence it might happen it is fine

I just sense a bloody good opportunity!

Two sides hit 100 points last season

Leicester/Ipswich/Leeds/Shampton were by far and away head and shoulders above anyone the season before that

2022/23 granted could have been different had it not been for our disrupted start to the season

The year before that Fulham again were very good

3 out of the last 4 seasons the autos have been pretty ring fenced but I just don’t see that as the case this season and really hope we can grasp the opportunity

Problem with this thinking is that when we lose a couple games, which we inevitably will, it open up for massive overreactions about how bad we are.

We’ve had a good start, let’s just see how long we can maintain that for.
