I'd say there's probably only so much he can do with that defence too. Needs a transfer window more than any other part of the team. Although i think the fact that our only competent keeper out of 3 is back in the team will help slightly.

I just can't agree that it's a bad squad. Few additions needed but regardless it's not a big worry for me.

It's not a bad squad at all, it should have been performing better all season. However the defence is a worry, especially the left side. You can play as well as you want but when you are let down often by your defence/keeper it knocks the stuffing out of you.

Yeh agreed, very much so. Still would say Lati and Bidwell are the most easily upgradable (is that a word?) part of the team.

Upgradable is a word. Look, I just used it. Surprised there isn’t an e after the d though, but there isn’t.

And Collins.

Dovin didn't have lots to do yesterday but his calmness on the ball is so important. It allows you to stem the flow of the game and provides the defenders with an option.

His attacking flair won't count for anything if he doesn't sort us out defensively.
Hopefully yesterday's clean sheet was the start of remedying that.

Our goals for record is amongst the best in the league, if he does get the defence sorted we'd need to stay near enough undeafeted for the rest of the season to make a real push towards the top 6

Agree re Dovin. Quite a bit of a keepers strength is presence. Collins has none. Dovin does.

The truth is there’s little evidence robins would ever get us near the top 6 again

His record with us in this league when measured against managers managing in this league or top flight barely puts him in the top 10

Little evidence? The evidence you are somehow and unbelievably missing is a Wembley play off final against the odds vs. Luton without spending millions. Masterminding one of the best away performances against Boro in the semis.

A penalty shoot out away from the PL and let's be honest if Hamer hadn't been injured at a time we were in the clear ascendancy against Luton - we would have been promoted.

Whilst all of this is happening some twat on here is typing away for years on a keyboard like some demented attention seeking moron that Robins should go. It beggars belief.

I'm very prepared to support a new era but not be discrediting everything that Robins did to save our club or his ability as one of our very best ever managers.

I said “again” - his record isn’t fantastic and almost any other owner would have sacked him.

Get over it and dry your eyes.

Robins was one of our best ever managers. No doubt about it. No one knows the circumstances that led to the poor start to this season - Viveash? Recruitment? King? Lawrence? Robins? A combination probably. The time was probably about right. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t brilliant for us. It’s not that black and white.

His personal issues won’t have helped and I think in the future he’ll say that in hindsight it was for the best for both parties.

As you are someone who was calling for one of our greatest managers to be sacked for over 5 years - during which time he promoted us from L2 to a penalty shoot out from the PL and from a Wembley cup final - your opinion is 100% worthless.

Get over yourself and perhaps show some respect to Robins vs. your total nonsense and need for attention.

We all support the new regime - 99% of us also completely respect Robins - he is the man who saved our club.

For me Robins is our greatest ever manager. He saved the club. Not only that, he’s ensured its survival for decades to come with the amount of young fans we’ve gained because of him.

However I think with hindsight it was the right time for him to go. This team that he built is not worthy of the price tag. Plus I would’ve hated to see him take us down to league 1. We’d have been back where he found us.

Ultimately I think him trusting the back room staff too much, and perhaps having no experience in handling a multi million pound transfer budget did for him.

None of this though tarnishes his record.

By and large (if they were his calls) he got the multi million pound deals right. Wright, Simms, Saka, Emc, MVE, Rudoni, Bassette. Probably question over Thomas, Binks and Kitching. Not bad overall.

A solid take tbh.. it’s the constant sniping at Robins from certain quarters that riles. It may be that the jump from Championship to Premier was that bit too much of a stretch for Robins, whereas Lampard might well be hopelessly out of his depth in L2 & L1 but can deliver that final step now, who knows. Personally I’ve said I didn’t think Lampard was the man & that might well have been depression & annnoyance after Portsmouth- which was worse than anything under Robins- but we’ll just have to see. and he needs minimum of a year anyway. I know it was ‘only Plymouth’, but I couldn’t fault any aspect of the performance yesterday. When Lampard joined I said expectation should be top ten, that got poo-pooed, but it’s looking very achievable now and that would be a good start.

Maybe I’ve missed it but I don’t see anyone “hoping Lampard fails”, what I do see is classless & stupid attempts to subtly rip apart what Robins did for us, and I have no idea what the motivation is to do that, what’s the point?

Part of a multimillion total though. Maybe if there Is less to spend people are more cautious on what they spend it on.

Absolute tosh. By and large our best players are the ones we’ve spent most on. That’s why they cost more.

Has there ever been anyone who has managed to ignore facts and to twist things to their own agenda. How on earth do you describe the last seven years as anything other than success. Finishing higher every season except the last one, but a semi-final and near cup final appearance. Wembley appearances, promotions, best football in years, play off final, players improving, building several different successful teams. How do you define success?

Contrary for the sake of it, his whole persona on here.

Don’t get sucked in, it’s more peaceful.

I don't think lampard could get us from league 2 to the championship like robins did

But perhaps lampard can get us to the prem from the championship.

I'm not saying robins couldn't do it. But maybe lampards more attacking flair is what we need.

Either way remember robins fondly and hopefully we will all do the same for lampard when his time here is over

Well, if he stays here 7 years, he would have done brilliantly well for us you would have thought. Even 3 years
