If this isn't true, why make it up?

There was an Israeli journalist saying he'd seen no evidence of dead babies but what he'd seen was horrific and crimes against humanity, isn't that bad enough?

Some grim reading in here to go with the news. Glad some posters talking sense though. How can anyone be nonplussed about innocent people dying based on what side of the conflict they are on? Fucking heartless.

Fuck Israeli govt
Fuck hamas

And I'll pray for innocents in both Isreal and Palestine. Don't really care if atheists have a problem with that.

Interesting read here on the rules of war, and how both sides, as if we didn't know it already, breach the Geneva convention etc..

It is unremittingly bleak. I absolutely understand why Israel wants retribution against Hamas, who wouldn't, but at what point do their allies say, "no, too far".

Questions and Answers: October 2023 Hostilities between Israel and Palestinian Armed Groups

The following questions and answers (Q&A) address issues relating to international humanitarian law (the laws of war) governing current hostilities between Israel and Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups in Gaza. The purpose is to facilitate analysis of the conduct of all parties involved in...

Israeli military says babies were beheaded in kibbutz attack

Damaged cars used by Hamas militants in Kibbutz Be'eriImage caption: Damaged cars used by Hamas militants in Kibbutz Be'eri
And here's another line from the Israeli military update - Jonathan Conricus says that Hamas militants did behead babies during their deadly wave of attacks at the weekend.
Conricus says a coroner who visited the aftermath of the massacre at Kibbutz Be'eri had seen the children's bodies and confirmed how they died.
"I admit it took us some time to really understand and to verify that report, and it was hard to believe that even Hamas could perform such a barbaric act," he says.
"I think we can now say, with relative confidence, that this is what Hamas did... there were bodies scattered everywhere, mutilated."

this was reported on the BBC this morning at 7am

i am sorry but it will take more than a statement from the israeli military

even the israeli press can't find any independent verification

Fuckin hell. That's a dangerous statement to make when you haven't bothered to have it independently verified.

My gut feeling is if it had happened the israeli's would have leaked the evidence as photo's like that would have a lot of hamas backers turning their backs on them

For me, if you support the illegal and inhumane occupation of Palestine because you think it’s your “holy right” then yes you are a major fucking twat. People condemn Islam because they say the Quran teaches Jihadi terrorism but where’s the same treatment for zionism when it’s the Torah telling them it’s THEIR land given to them by GOD?

The world would be a better place without all these hierarchical systems of bullshit that have used and abused, murdered , controlled and robbed ordinary people for centuries. So scrap Judaism, Islam, Christianity ( Especially Catholicism ) Hinduism and all the other prejudicial affiliated hangers on .
Let’s start again…..

Let's say tomorrow Israel agrees to split Jerusalem and give Palestine some land back etc etc ..do you think terror attacks against Israel will stop ?

We both know the answer is no and only a full destruction of the state will be enough for the Arab nations in the middle east

That's not quite true is it. Israel isn't under an existential threat from anyone these days, it's got an effective military (supported by the US) and is a nuclear power.

Which Arab nation, other than Iran, has come out in support of Hamas and their aims? I haven't googled it, so this isn't a trick question, but I'm not aware of anyone else.

Which Arab nation even if they wanted to exterminate Israel, would actually be capable of doing so?

Pitching this as an existential battle for Israel is not accurate as long as the US are behind them (and they've just deployed an aircraft carrier in support, in case anyone tries to take advantage of the situation).

In my view Religion is the biggest lie ever told

Its a pissing contest of my imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend

An archaic belief system originally generated to try and make people 'do good' and be kind to others, which hundreds of years later will be the thing to create the end of humanity.

In my view anyway, I'm sure someone will be along to tell me I'm a c**t

In theory, prosecution and punishment for the people committing the crimes. From soldiers on the ground to the people giving the orders. In theory.

I think religion was/is more a means of coercion and control by those in power by playing on human's greatest fear - death - and what comes after it. Basically telling people toe the line and do what we tell you (cos that's what the God's want) and you'll be rewarded when you die. Obviously not now, God makes your life horrible to prove your faith and you're worthy of a place in paradise. And don't try to think about what we're saying, cos that makes God angry. Just do as you're told.

The best things to come from religion are the numerous beautiful buildings ( Places of worship )that have been built at extortionate cost to extremely poor people usually.
That legacy provides the centre point of most human settlements across the planet and have often become tourist attractions.
It’s a shame about all the poison and divisive nonsense that has been preached in them all at different times.

Religion was created to help people understand and make sense of a world they didn't really grasp.

It's become corrupted since then

In what other fields has the perceived wisdom of 2,000 years ago endured?

Mathematics, science and engineering. By one interesting example, Roman concrete was made in such a way that it repaired itself when it cracked and still stands today. By contrast some of our own modern versions can’t last 20 years!
