Generally I would say that if he's drawing criticism from Netanyahu, he's doing the right thing. Though because ultimately the US is the dog that wags the tail, unless he's going to use his arse-licking powers to persuade Trump to also recognise Palestine, it's not exactly the grown up politics some would like it to be.Netanyahu doesn’t exactly sound thrilled

That’s fair.Personally, I'd class it as a good start, though massively overdue.
What really needs to happen, imho, are very substantial economic and cultural sanctions on Israel, to the point where we neither buy nor sell to them, and we also break all artistic, academic, and sporting links.
This isn't anti-Semitism, this is about drawing attention to the fact that the Israeli state continues to act in an utterly revolting and deplorable way, and until it changes, cannot be supported in any way by this country.
