I mean if he’s waits four more days he’s got a US president who takes a much more “glass parking lot” approach to the Middle East generally.

How many agreements have Israel broken over the years? Settlements etc.

Israeli settlements in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as well as in the Syrian Golan Heights, are illegal under international law. These settlements are in violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and in breach of international declarations. There are 144 such settlements.

All the territories you mention were retained after the adjoing Arab nations attacked Israel with the intention of wiping it off the map. What the fuck are they supposed to do? Hand them back and say don't worry about it?

Does international law have anything to say about the obliteration of Jewish and other populations in Islamic countries?

So then, you admit the objective of the Israeli govt is to ethnically cleanse the occupied territories of Palestinians as it couldn't trust the natives of those lands not to attack with neighbouring state backing?

You conveniently overlook too the Nakba whereby tens of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly removed or in some case massacred by Israeli death squads upon creation of the state. A state the Zionists launched terrorist attacks against the governing British to accelerate their departure.

Clearly Netanyahu and his fellow supremacist nut jobs in the cabinet don't want peace given today's news. Israel has a right to defend itself etc...

I don’t know, but isnt that immaterial. Israeli settlements in those territories are illegal and presumably a bit of a red rag to a bull. Why not just leave the area and de-escalate. Or is it that Israel wants lebensraum and has learned extensively from the past. The ruthlessness is incredible but not without historical precedence.

Israel's legitimacy was built on the Holocaust. Now its own genocide is destroying it

The Zionist project was only able to garner the support of most Jews due to the Holocaust. But the self-defence argument no longer works during its own genocide in Gaza

I would say it's highly material.

Do you honestly think that if the Israelis were to vacate the said areas, that the Arabs would just call it a day? I don't - it would give them encouragement to go for the jugular. Look at the manner in which they are celebrating their current "victory".

Your view ascribes a sense of fair play to the Arabs, which is a quality I find to be greatly diminished or completely lacking around MENA. As numerous commentators have observed, only strength is respected there - one reason why governments throughout the area are composed of strong men rather than representatives of any democratic majority.

Just wondering - have any of those with Arab leanings on here actually been to Israel? Or any of the neighbouring countries?

I don't think so.

Merely the observation that people around the world tend to differ in many respects regarding philosophy, values etc.

Would you disagree?

The notion of what constitutes "fair play" can vary greatly from place to place.

Yes. Weird racist beliefs are indeed a sign of maturity. I remember I finally became a man once I said Jews have big noses. My Dad poured me a whiskey and said “welcome to manhood son”

I was born in the 20th century, when “the notion of what constitutes fair play” evolved beyond making nonsensical generalisations about the inner morality of 400 million people based on their race.

Trump wants neighbours to take in Palestinians to 'clean out' Gaza

Palestinians condemn the proposal, and both Jordan and Egypt have rejected Trump's request.
www.bbc.co.uk
Describing Gaza as a "demolition site", Trump said: "You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing". He added that the move "could be temporary" or "could be long-term".

Harsh, but possibly the most realistic long-term solution.

It's difficult to imagine Gazans and the Israelis ever coexisting peacefully together, especially after events of the past 15 months. Talk of a two-state solution is nonsensical really.

There's plenty of room for them in the sparsely populated middle Eastern countries living among their co-religionists, and also labour shortages in the gulf states. Many "Palestinians" were originally Jordanian or Egyptian anyway.

It's not without precedent - many Jewish communities have been fucked out of areas they lived in for over a thousand years with nowhere to go.

Time to grasp the nettle.

Many 'Israelis' were planted there from Eastern Europe and the USA funnily enough. Plenty of room around the world for them, the USA having plenty of sparsely populated states.

Oh no, it definitely happened to the Jews. And like most decent people I see it as one of history’s great disgraces that should never be repeated. Not as a “precedent” used to justify the same thing happening again to a different group today.

It’s the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz today. How about you show some fucking respect?

Who even is this @Harry Krishner clown? Not a single post about football since last season. Just comes on a Coventry board to moan about immigrants and demand we “grasp the nettle” on ethnic cleansing. Aren’t there other places this guy can go, or did they laugh him out already?

Its funny that Tony and RoS get constant “how was the game” comments yet the two or three posters who seemingly only hang out in off topic making racist comments get nothing.

How about you stop being a complete fucking twat?

The footie boards are mainly full of people just expressing opinions about games/players etc. - to which they are perfectly entitled. These boards are full of dangerously misinformed bullshit, much of which appears to have darker political motivations.

People on here need to be challenged robustly on their muddled thinking.

I'm at the matches or the ones I can get to anyway. I really don't see much point in posting on a match I am actually at. Ipswich next for me.

Darker political motivations than "grasping the nettle" on ethnic cleansing?

If you don't see the point in posting about football, I would suggest you fuck off to a non-football website. Your attempts at winning over hearts and minds don't seem to be going very well.
