Netanyahu being classed as an international criminal would normally be an issue in a sane country. Hopefully he’s turned out

Israel does not give a fuck what anyone else says, just like Russia or the USA . Long live Israel it’s backed by the west and will wipe out the rest of the terrorists one by one.

I can’t see how Israelites knowing their own recent history can’t see the parallels with their treatment of Palestine

It beggars belief

The Israelis have no choice.

They are surrounded by groups and nations that want to destroy them in the most brutal fashion imaginable.

If the ICJ/Amnesty want to be fair, perhaps they could come up with a few suggestions on restoring Jewish populations that have been wiped out around MENA and Europe, and where any displaced Jewish populations could safely go - assuming any survive.

The Israelis handed back part of "Palestine" in 2005 and all that did was provide a launch pad for hammas attacks.

Not if hammas are using them as human shields:

The crimes of Mohammed Deif

Israel is more than justified in targeting this warmongering Hamas leader.

And before 1987 and before Netanyanhu advocated supporting Hamas, what about then?
What about all the massacres of civilians that took place before then?

And what about Europeans and Americans pretending to be Israelis and stealing land in the West Bank?

And why did the Israeli far right kill the Oslo agreement by assassinating their own PM when peace was within touching distance?

They don't want peace they want to commit genocide and steal land. They did before Hamas existed, and they do it in places where Hamas has no jurisdiction and they support Hamas when it suits.
And Netanyanhu knows that after 07/10 he's got a reckoning coming for supporting Hamas which is why, among other genocidal reasons, he won't want this war to end.

I feel that over the course of these atrocities at least some in the IDF or wider Israeli society may be having an 'are we the baddies?' moment.

Thats exactly the point.

The Jews have been persecuted for thousands of years. Now they lash out at anyone who attacks them.

Their treatment of Palestine is entirely consistent with that.

It's not.
Zionism isn't supported by a large number of Jews and began before the holocaust, (I appreciate Jews experienced persecution prior to the holocaust).

Israel lobby is strong there. Mix of rich Jews on the left and rich crazy Christians on the right with fanatic Israel support for very different reasons. Plus lots of anti Muslim racism across the piece.

Very much shifting, though.

Whilst I have many qualms with the politics of the region outside of Israel, not helped by the West's constant interference, but I think the US will follow the UK soon when relations become much cooler than they are right now.

Never felt right how closely aligned the UK are to Israel.

Well, we align ourselves with the same countries the US does. Which has led us into supporting some pretty shameful causes.

I would usually agree, but with Israel, it's only a very recent foreign policy, perhaps proving your point (although I think it's more to counter Iran)

The hesitance probably a hangover of the issues that arisen during the Mandatory Palestine era.

Got him in Iran. And they know that most the Hamas leadership won't be anywhere near Gaza.

The reasons given for the carnage in Gaza, are bullshit. They just want to murder women and children.

Interested to hear peoples' views on how to extract dangerous and well-armed terrorists in highly built up areas that continue to fire on any attacking forces while simultaneously firing rockets randomly into civilian areas in both the north and south of the country - and how to get your own people back who are still being held hostage?

What would you do in that situation?
