It will impact us a lot, but we're not as reliant on youth as clubs like Watford for example (besides, our youth team may well be our first team next season!)

Saw a similar thing about it a few days ago.. Couldn't really believe that any of the clubs actually voted in favour for this.
This will destroy a lot of teams who have built their foundations on youth development. Southampton and Watford being two that come to mind...
Stupid thing to vote for and the sooner the so called "big teams" break away for a European league and leave the premier league scrambling for scraps in their wake, the better.

If they voted "no", the Premier League threatened to withdraw over £5m of funding that they give to lower league clubs each year for youth development.

Quote from the article there. That's just complete blackmail, so presumably we voted in favour of the proposals?

From what I have seen reported this has got to be bad news for all but premiership clubs. Basically turns the Football league teams into Premiership feeder clubs and on the cheap. That will feed all the way down the football pyramid into non league. And it will affect CCFC greatly. Had Thomas gone to Liverpool last season we would have got a reported £1m under these rules the max would have been something like £140K (or am i reading it wrongly?)

The Football League got bullied and the clubs will pay for it in the long run

It got voted through by the clubs that don't have acadamies but fancied a slice of the £5M.
