Im a Bolton fan, I come in Peace. I'm trying to put a name to this ground. It may or may not be Highfield Rd. It's definitely not Burnden Park. This picture is on a Wanderers Fans forum and the location is driving me, and other people mad. I think it is your old ground. Even if you can confirm it isn't HR then that will give me some sort of peace. Photo is late 70s. Possibly '79. We played at your place twice, over two seasons, that year.

Ta!

If that is the players tunnel then I'd say no. Highfield Road had boxes either side of the tunnel at that time, where on this picture I can see railings at the side instead

Can't remember tarmac being a sponsor either?

On that basis I'm suggesting Molineux being a Wolverhampton based company?

This was the main stand and players tunnel before the redevelopment.

I can see similarities to undies image but I certainly don't recall Tarmac being a sponsor at any time of our club.

Good call. That would explain the gold/yellow railings to the side

Definitely not Highfield Road. Any railings would have been sky blue, never yellow.

Thanks for the replies chaps. Yes the railings are yellow and that could point to a number of clubs. Wolves, Millwall etc... Here's another picture. The colours in the crowd don't really suggest Wolves.

Except nobody was really into club colours back then, and it's autumn/winter clothing?

that bottom picture looks right to me. you can even see the vertical support on the light blue panel, clearly seen between the r and the m of tarmac in the willie morgan pic.

Nope Sky Blue, at least since I've been going (90s), however we did have some yellow gates inside the ground.

Ground appears to have been Sky Blue to some degree before JH.

This picture is from 1959

@undies I’m 100% sure it’s Millwall, the old den.

Only thing missing is the tarmac sponsor but this photo was dated 1993 so had probably been replaced by then.

If you’re correct on the late 70s date, probably either 5 Feb or 31 Dec 1977. Millwall winning both, 3-0 & 1-0.

It did in the late 60’s and 70’s the tunnel before the main stand was developed was in the half way line.

Yes, The Sky Blue became the established color in the Hill era. But prior to that city played in various colors including shades of blue.

Is that definitely 1959? thought that Hill introduced Sky Blue in 1961 when he became manager, prior to that we were blue and white..
