For nearly 1000 years our motto has been Camera Principis. This relates to Edward the Black Prince who apparently lived in Cheylesmore, it literally means "Chamber fit for a prince"
King Edward III, his father, awarded Coventry a royal charter, the elephant on the coat of arms is seen as a sign of incredible strength, and the elephant is seen in folklore as a slayer of dragons (Sisu?).
Delapsus Resurgem - When I fall I shall rise, much better sums up Coventry's more recent history, and fits in well with the coat of arms which also includes a phoenix rising from the ashes.
From the blitz to the demise of the car industry, to the 1987 cup final (behind twice against a team including Clemence, Hoddle, Waddle, Ardiles, Clive Allen), these are all examples of Coventry's bouncebackability.
These events demonstrate the resolve and determination of the City of Coventry.
Once again we are up against it, shall we stay fallen or shall we rise again?
The luftwaffe didn't beat us, the Japanese car industry didn't beat us, Tottenham didn't beat us, are we going to let Sisu beat us?
Delapsus Resurgem.
Let's all sing together,
Play up Skyblues,
While we sing together,
We will never loose,
Sisu or Football League, Cobblers or anyone!
They sharn't defeat us, we'll fight til the game is won!!!
