Is it time for plan B (1 Viewer)

As a city fan I want three things:-
1. Championship football next year
2. Sisu out
3. A club that is still in existence and whom I can support in whatever league

Now I may be crazy (and will no doubt be shouted down by many on here) but I still think we have a chance at staying up this season. I don't agree that we are the worst club in the league and I believe that relegation will be three of about eight clubs and there is no reason why we can't be one of the clubs that stay up. I think some of our rivals have a worse first eleven then us and many seem to be even lower on moral and form. If we can pick up decent results (ie mainly wins) for the rest of our home games I think that will be enough to stay up and after all we are the club that epitomises the "great escape" so if anybody can do it we can.

However I think what is important is that we all get behind the team and egg them on over the finishing line of championship survival. That is where I do not agree with boycotting matches or even "Sisu out" chants during games. We all need to get behind the team as much as possible.

In addition it seems the Sisu out protests are doing little - they know we want them out. It has now even reached the media and so most people know we want them out - but it seems to be having little effect and which is why I wonder whether it is time for plan b.

By withholding money to the club Sisu just get it elsewhere by selling our players or mortgaging this and that. Therefore not only are the players missing the support but we are no better off anyway. It seems questionable that Hoffman has the money to come in and take over. Surely it would be better for him to come in and buy the team whilst we still have some squad left and whilst we still have some chance of staying up. Once sisu have sold all our players and we are in league one it will be even harder for the club to come back. What we need is investment and new owners now and therefore we need to make the club as attractive as possible.

I read in the paper today that Reading are due to be bought out by a Russian billionaire and read earlier in the week that Portsmouth have a number of interested investors. How do we entice investors and potential new owners to look at us.

We are a city with a big potential fan base, we have an arena which can also be used for concerts and other events. For a new owner who could buy the arena and tap into the local community there could be good prospects for a decent return on their money. Therefore we need to sell the club and its merits.

I would suggest that plan b is that as many of us get up to the Ricoh and get behind the team. During the 90 mins we do everything possible to cheer the team on in the hope that we can secure championship status. We show that we are there to get behind new owners and that we want the best for our club. We make the club look like an inviting prospect. Then during the rest of the week we continue with our Sisu out campaign - we keep the media involved with organised protests, calls in to phone ins and generally make it known that we support city not sisu.

At the minute we are not supporting the team (anti sisu chants during games don't help), Sisu don't care as they still have things to sell and the club is in danger of dropping over the edge. If Sisu only put the club in administration once they have stripped all the assets what is the likelyhood of us being of interest to anyone with money - would we come back from that.

Well better be off now - up the ground to cheer on my team and hoping for three points.

Havent read your essay above, but all ill say is whatever plan we used today (as it certainly wasnt first choice set up) stick with it ffs! We looked an excellent unit today, especially 2nd half. Middlesborough are yet another pretty poor team even when they had 11 men.

It seems that we are talking crossed purposes - my post had nothing to do with the players, tactics, formation etc and everything to do with the fans. Plan B refers to my belief that we would be better placed supporting the players and getting behind the team (which I still believe is not the worse in the league and is capable of staying up) then all this inter-fighting, protesting and boycotting.

We are more likely to attract investment and buyers as a championship club then as a league 1 club and so it was my belief that the best course of action is to do all we can to cheer the players on to championship safety. As it turned out my post was prior to the Middlesborough game and I did think the atmosphere at that match was the most positive for a while - hopefully we can carry that forward.

I agree. We need to support the team. We can only influence investors and the current owners so much, what we need to do is support our team for 90 minutes every Saturday.

Sorry Sky Blue Vickie. I did say i hadnt read the post (that'll teach me to jump to conclusions :) ).

I couldnt agree more that this is what we need. Not only do we need the players to perform week in week out in order to stay up, but we also need to support them, giving the players a reason to perform! If that means lining SISU's pockets by buying tickets, then so be it!
