He wants to buy a club?

Former Coventry City Executive Vice Chairman and MD Chris Anderson has said in an interview that he would like to buy a club.

In an interview with Dutch blog de Correspondent, Anderson, who cannot talk about his time at the Sky Blues after signing a confidentuality agreement said: "Football has not been developed. It is essentially remained a working class sport and industry. "

Asked if he could get a club to do things differently, using more analysts etc, Anderson said: "That was my plan before I went to Coventry, and now we're back to Plan A. Those investors remain interested. They are football followers and people who invested earlier in sport. We were already close to a takeover of a club. Which club? I can not say.

"We are looking at not a very big and well-known team, a modest team, for example in League One or League Two in England. Or a club in the Netherlands and Belgium. "Asked why not start a new club, Anderson said: "I love the culture and the traditions of football. So I would always opt for a 'real' club that is rooted in the community. [...] It must be just the right thing, at the right price and the right opportunity for success. "

So he says "It is essentially remained a working class sport and industry" as a criticism and then goes on to say "I love the culture and the traditions of football". Errr. Like the culture and tradition that its essentially remained a working class sport and industry? Spent too much time around SISU contradicting himself.

I believe signing NDA's is common practice at director level as part of the employment contract.

Sounds like it. Obviously didn't like what he saw which will come as a surprise to no one on here.

Not sure we can use his time here as any measure of how successful he could be if he was free to make the big decisions.

I wonder If he was a little indiscreet on the way out.
Timing of his exit roughly coincides with the CT campaign.
Might explain Fishers antipathy towards him, almost gloating that his shirt has been retired.
Absolutely convinced this guy was here for other purposes than signing rent deals and Ticketmaster deals.

It would be foolish of anyone to read too much into that. Pretty standard stuff. You don't let people that have had access to that level of information leave and have a chat with the local paper the next day.

All of them...something relatively the same (according to your role) is probably hidden in YOUR contract of employment too. Leave under a cloud & you will be made aware of it.

To me, that's one of the most concerning articles of recent times.

Pinch of salt aside, it sounds as though he (well his investors) has the finances and the plan to rejuvenate a lower league club, yet he left us fairly quickly after joining with no real reason given.

So, a potentially genuine investor (not someone after a PR moment), had full access to exactly the type of club he wants to own, yet got away from it as soon as possible. Very worrying for any future takeover, if something spooked CA, would it also put others off too?

Of course, it could be fabrication, but his tenure did seem pretty short and ultimately uneventful for someone who initially seemed to make the right noises. Maybe this is why.

More likely his interest was known and that's why he was here, sort of try before you buy,
So he tried and realised what a basket case we are and therefore he didn't buy.

It does all seem to tie in. There was surprise when he first turned up as people couldn't work out why he would be here working for SISU.

The worry is you can assume that, prior to coming in, he had a vague idea of the financial situation and what it would take to achieve a takeover from SISU. That would imply that the issue was something that came to light once he was working here. What were the two big issues he was working on?

The Ricoh deal and the academy deal. From day one he said all options were open and identified what it would take to make staying at the Ricoh viable and had talks with Wasps on that basis. Wasps then walked away from those talks and refused to speak with the club anymore. He was also having discussions regarding the academy at the Higgs and they stopped talking to the club shortly before announcing Wasps were moving in.

It wasn't long then until Anderson left. Makes me wonder if he's looked at the stadium and academy issues and couldn't see a viable way forward.

If they were his key issues, then he really had nothing left to do.

He may have wanted SISU to drop the legals so he could make some progress of course...

Perry Groves on talksport, on talking about football issues said something to the effect,
'Once you lose the trust & respect of fans/supporters, it's almost impossible to get it back'.
Therefore, having been part of the sisu clique, Mr Anderson, if it were CCFC he was interested in, would find it extremely difficult to gain the trust/respect of fans.
That said, imho, the likes of TF, JS, or anyone associated, present, or past, would find it nigh on impossible.

Well, of course, that depends on which camp you are in, or alternatively which camp you were always in.
Some fans however reserve the right to exercise theirs, after an appropriate view of the situation.
Imho, sisu have systematically reduced our proud club to where we are now,
nevertheless i'm sure there are some who cling to their obsequious mantra.
