In general, or just football-related?

Football-related, yes. Have done for a while; I don’t have the same love for the game that I had even 15 years ago.

Yeah, but only because it's an international break

I hate the international breaks. I couldn't give two shiny shits about the Nations League, or generally about any international match other than WC or Euros. They keep claiming to be elite "athletes" (grrrrrrrr), yet they can't run around for a couple of hours twice a week without feeling tired? Pussies!

I get excited at times, but a lot of the time then, yeah, a bit meh about it all.

Doesn't help not being in Coventry.

Try to keep a bit of an eye on Folkestone Invicta down here, but they have had 5 players sent off in the last 5 games.

A good run of form and people will be more excited for sure.

I was referring to my feelings on The City but thinking about it more - I guess football as a whole right now.

International break never helps, especially after a loss!

Still too early, let's see at October break - circa 10 games gone, better indication.

I'm nowhere near as interested in football generally as i used to be, feels far more of a closed shop at the top and the monwy thrown around is obscene.

With CCFC i think most of us got very optimistic pre-season and its been tough to see some fairly weak performances and a lopsided transfer window. Hopefully its just a short patch of bad form while lots of changes kick in.

Fantastic red at the weekend.

Bloke send off for booting the opposition keeper after getting rattled at being the piggy in the middle during an injury break.

Not overly concerned by the football, I think we'll be fine once we start going.

Generally feeling a bit meh though, didn't help that I got an email about our works Christmas party this morning. WTF.. where has this year gone

Highlight for me in the Nations League was Dimarco's goal against France, like something the Brazil team of the 70's would score!

Amen to that. Hopefully it goes out of favour before too long as it’s making the game so boring as a spectacle.

Not sure why you couldn’t have these fairly meaningless Nations League games during pre season and then have a good 3 months of straight league football
Felt worse as the schedule before the break wasn’t exactly intense. Could have fitted in an extra league midweek round of fixtures in it easily and help congestion later on.

I am missing league football, but the Nations League is a massive upgrade on the old friendly schedule. At least there is some sort of goal to them and a prize for teams that do well. I think it feels crapper because England slipped into the second division

Yes - feeling very flat about things. But it can change really quickly...a good performance and a good result will change things. Really hope it starts at the weekend.

I can only say from how I'm feeling about it, but I agree that it feels super flat at the min. I think we've hit the top of the wave and realistically the only think left is promotion to the Premier League. League 2 playoff winners, Checktrade Trophy winners, League One champions, Championship play off final, FA Cup semi final at Wembley... there's nothing really left expect promotion. Can completely understand it's not how everyone feels or should feel, but for me I think there's nothing left of this cycle and that contributes to this flatness I'm currently feeling.

Maybe it's a bit of football burnout, there was a lot to digest during the first few weeks of the season with new team, transfer window, etc. There was also a carry on from summer (England). If I'm honest though I've had a proper football hangover since we lost Play off final. BUT... it's always more fun when you're winning and we have really been doing that since March.
I'm also based in Denmark, they love their football here and I often go to watch FC København as I live next to stadium and win/lose/draw you have a great experience (admittedly it helps that you can have a beer in the stands!). I've even started watch a few lower league games here.

I have a season ticket for Port FC of Bangkok ( ta rua in Thailand) 40 quid for the season ticket and most passionate fans in Thailand. Lots of stuff on YouTube about the club ). Always a great time going home and away . Especially as all a lot of the grounds let you take your beer in ( around £1.80 a pint).

It is feeling very flat, understandably I think.
We've had a pretty poor start.
The transfer window ended very badly after an exciting start.
We know we have issues in midfield.
And... neither Gus or Vik moved on which has implications for us.
So, after all the hype and the hope it's all a bit meh, yes!

We’ve started poorly in the league. We’ve not played well. We’ve not scored many goals. Our transfer business left much to be desired.

Worst of all Doug has appeared in the squad photo.

Feeling fine actually, its been an odd start playing the same two teams twice and not really firing on all cylinders yet but the Oxford league game gave me a taste of how good it could be. The ST sales mean every game will be busy , Sheaf is back soon too
My only meh are these hideous 12.30 kick offs which I hate and there are more to come.

I think Nick Hornby said football is not the same anymore as when he wrote Fever Pitch. The money, the Prem, the entitlement of the top 6. He feels something has been lost along the way.
I remember when I was younger and we won, I was on cloud 9 for a week. If we lost, the whole family were bereft with the women (who never went to the matches in those days) ended up dispensing aspirin for inevitable headaches. Loads of good things have happened in football many instigated by Jimmy Hill, but it is hard to consistently recreate the excitement I used to feel.
That said, I have enjoyed our rise up the lower leagues more recently. Seems more like real football than the Prem.

Interesting responses, I've nodded my head and agreed as I've read them.

Like many City fans I still haven't got over the two Wembley defeats in successive seasons and I can't seem to get past that.

Must admit I’m enjoying the Championship phase. Lots of games, decent profile in terms of coverage and exposure, a fair chance of winning a fair few and a genuinely competitive league.

Football generally is quite depressing right now.

Bad start for us, although I’m hopeful we’ll be absolutely fine. It’s a big come down from post Everton friendly though

England, despite having on paper the best side in Europe, played like they barely knew each other (yes I know we made the final), leaving me convinced that we could have the best eleven players in the world and we’d still lose to a Spain.

I used to enjoy watching the PL but it’s been very flat the last couple of years. City win it, promoted sides go back down again. The football is too tactical and dull. Miss the chaos. Man Utd continuing to be absolutely shite is something, though.

Then the financial side of football absolutely grim too. PSR, Saudi Arabia, inflated fees for youth players, dodgy buy backs.

I don't watch any other football really other City and England. Was quite impressed with how Carsley had us playing first half after Southgates defence first football, but second half we eased off against a poor Ireland side. I'm at Wembley tonight for the game and looking forward to it.

Blimey. Shows how desperate things are when we get excited over 20 minutes our supposed best player appeared for. Fine until he's crocked again. Which will happen sooner rather than later.
