Look with Aidy 'Hoofroyd' still in charge, we may have still been playing poor football, but i think some of the big names would have stayed under his leadership, King being the best example. With Thorn in charge I think he has been niave, and his inexperience in the market shows

Yea because Aidy Boothroyd is a household football name.

Errm, wasn't Andy Thorn the scout who brought these players in under AB? :thinking about:

Welcome to the forum.

I've got to be honest and say that I disagree AT has been in football for a very long time. He hasn't been a manager granted. I think the problem is purely lack of funds to bid enough and pay wages that the guys can get elsewhere. AT is not the problem.

There is no way that Marlon would've even thought about us had Aidy Boothroyd not been here. I also feel he may have stayed this year but who knows! I like Andy Thorn a lot, I think that the players respect him and lets face it... who are our options. In Thorn we trust

Fair enough, to be fair, Andy Thorn never stops offering me players on Football manager. I think he has always been a good scout for the club and good at picking out young players for the club, but he can't get the established names , the experienced players into the squad as he doesn't have the pulling power of other more experienced managers

Who cares if King had stayed under Boothroyd, he was playing better under Thorn and my GOD, I don't want to see that football anywhere near our team again!! I remember coming out of the ground after a 1-0 win thinking that it could possibly be the worst performance I'd seen, no positives from it whatsoever! Then I remembered we'd actually won - I was just so frustrated at the lack of actual football that had been played. Truly awful.

I wasn't talking about Marlon King.

Don't think players these days give a damn who the manager is - the money on offer is the over riding motivator and we have very little of that commodity to attract players. The Boothroyd King thing was special circumstances.

Is Andy Thorn the problem?

No......

The real problem is a lack of funds and no squad depth.

With all of the goings on and turmoil surrounding this club, it's a wonder that any player at all would want to sign with Coventry! Having followed the Sky Blues since 1971, I have to say that in my opinion, Andy Thorn is a breath of fresh air!!! I feel that if given even a minimum of resources, this club would be in good hands.

if we still had Bootroyd in charge we would already be in league 1.
