I'd imagine it's the coked up, 'we-do-what-we-want' morons that have latched onto us that do criminal damage 'for-a-laugh'....

Why are people saying that it’s somehow normal to want to go and smash up toilets? Who thinks like that?

If this is the case what a bunch of idiots. We moan about other fans having a pop at us on forums but we dont help ourselves and if someone has trashed the toilets or punched a female steward then they should get a life time ban.. given the tiickets never reached general sale this must have been a st holder or a mate of one. Idiots

ill await the sunderland forum with the coventry scum thread now

Agree.

I was brought up to be respectful. Of people, of property.

We cannot just accept these things as being the norm.

It is not acceptable at all.

I was also bought up to respect property of others, and I do not agree with smashing places up but what are you going to do about it if there's 10/20 people bouncing around of the sinks? Point proven although we don't agree doesn't mean we can stop it it's going to happen where ever you go.

Well, yup. Big difference between over exuberation and wanton violence for no reason.

Wasn't the wording 'smashing things up' though, rather than 'bouncing around the sinks?'

Haven't seen the footage, so only going on what has been said so far.

Fucks sake, we really don’t help ourselves do we? Why is destroying toilets ‘a thing’, what goes through people’s heads when they start doing shit like this, if I was Ipswich I would be sending the bill back to us to pick up.
As for hitting someone, sounds like a struggle that might have got out of hand who knows but we as fans don’t shower ourselves in glory and clubs had sympathy for us around our plight but any goodwill has evaporated and a lot of clubs will be glad to see the back of us

If we get banned from grounds because of the behaviour of an idiotic minority we all might think a bit more about how we want to deal with them.
Totally unacceptable to behave in the way they did and the way they have often during the season. Wife felt intimidated at Rotherham by the behaviour of some of our so called fans...she no longer travels away.

It’s sad that as a society we allow the actions of a few to ruin the experience of others. Behave like that elsewhere in society it wouldn’t go unnoticed.

The female steward was caught up in it after the Ipswich steward started throwing windmills at the Coventry fan trying to stay in the ground.

That bloke was no kid in his 50s I reckon, being a struggling tough guy he was outside afterwards laughing with his mates, in a didn’t I do well way, didn’t look pissed or anything, he should have been in a police van. He and the incident will be on camera I hope he gets a 6am knock on his door on a Sunday morning, don’t rule that out.

It should be said that our away support has been outstanding this season. Loud, proud, travelled in numbers, positive, respectful and impeccably behaved overall. A real credit to the club and city.

Couple of exceptions. Rotherham away was edgy, and the incident yesterday, which I couldn't see clearly and don't know the context, but it didn't look pretty.

Incidents like this should be called out, but it has been a joy following city away this season, so a bit of context needed.

Forget the ego points he got with his mates outside, you can see him laughing as the stewards were trying to drag him out.

Were there stewards on the gates of entry yesterday ? Surely they shouldn't let people under the influence into the stadium.

I wouldn’t be able to tell you if it was the same guy taken out and throwing the punches, there was a massive melee with probably 8 stewards involved and a load of city fans. We turned to look and there were arms flying everywhere and the lady was the nearest to us and could just see her face get hit several times but couldn’t see the perpetrator as other fans were blocking my view. Following this a bloke in his 50s was struggling with four stewards taking him out and the woman then followed them out. I couldn’t see what, but trouble continued after for maybe a minute or two. There was a CCTV camera in the stand almost directly above so I imagine they will have perfectly clear footage of it and hope everyone involved gets what’s coming to them. We’re top of the league, winning away, and people are fucking fighting stewards.

Not knowing the exact cause of it all, this goes to show how difficult the steward's job is. If the person initially involved had been using racist or homophobic abuse then the stewards were right to throw him out, but it's not so easy to do, when others intervene to "help".
Having said that, some stewards are absolute Neanderthals as well

Some of the behaviour at the game we witnessed was shamefully really.

One lad was refused entry he was abusing all and sundry. Walked up to folks and abused them for their size.
Glad the little prick refused entry.

Inside saw the brawl with women steward involved. Embarrassing.

Then at half time stewards and coppers getting abuse " get a proper job" chants and the old " fight fight we are cov" getting in the faces of coppers.

Must emphasise this was 1% of 2k there. 99% were fine.

Embarrassing.

Gotta say probably met bumped into dozens of ipswich fans in the 4 matches we played at various pre match or post match drinks/pubs etc

We parked on a grass verge yesterday where lots of ipswich fans parked. And the Ipswich fans asked us to move the car back a few feet so our car is not parralell to double yellow line or we woukd have got a ticket.

They had taken out a young lad a few minutes before. He left quietly it seemed, then they may have gone to eject this other guy and had a completely different reaction.

I didn’t see the female steward getting hit but it probably explains why a male steward was full on trying to exchange punches with fans. To the extent of moving back up the stairs to do it and having to be pulled back. I was really surprised by this at the time because it was escalating the situation. If the lady steward who was hit was the one I could see, she genuinely seemed to be trying to deescalate it all. It was dangerous to be near because the stewards and the fan struggled slowly all the way down the steps, where there was only a narrow space between the ends of the rows of seats and the concrete staircase. They were being pursued by fans and consequently fell into people in the seats behind them, with no way of knowing if they were potentially falling on a child or an older person etc. There was no space for us to move back. At one point a steward took a pretty dangerous looking fall over the top of the covered up rows of seats at the front. Stuff was also being thrown - something hit me in the face. Maybe a rolled up hot dog wrapper? It didn’t do any damage but it was thrown with force by one city fan and it hit another, me. It won’t stop me going away but it was unnerving.

Did the thrown thing hit you while you were walking down the stairs? If so, that was thrown by a few drunkards on the row in front of me.
