I think he would improve like most young players, given the time and the right coaching. I think it's more of a case that it was identified pretty quickly that we needed more experience in the midfield and defence, if we want to make the step up. Like most have been saying on here all season, the balance is off.
I don't think there will be a massive overhaul, we have a lot of players on decent contracts and hold all the cards. So unless some bids come in that we can't turn down, i think we'll be keeping a good spine.
Sounds like they just want to upgrade a few players, and fill the gaps we have now.
I’m pleased to hear that because I think the squad needs tweaking rather than an overhaul. A couple of upgrades here and there and like you say the gaps being filled in, I think will have positive knock on effects throughout the team.

As for Binks, I think any defender who can run out with the ball and ping balls like he can (on a good day) is worth investing some time and coaching in. If he learns to defend better and gets a bit stronger we could have a very good player on our hands.

I feel sorry for Sakamoto , that injury has clearly affected him so badly , he has I fear regressed but no blame on him. It does t stop him trying hard though as always but I would be letting him go in the summer

I was saying this the other day. We’ve seen how good Saka can be but he’s been poor since coming back from that injury. I’m ignoring yesterday because the formation and shape didn’t suit him but I can only assume he’s been affected by that injury and it’s a confidence issue. I wouldn’t sell him though but right wing position is now a concern. Both Wright and EMC are ineffective there.

No just "a great player" but also "the best midfielder at the club by a country mile".

Yeah, we were saying yesterday that what we don't need is another transition type season.
We've been unlucky with injuries too this year so by the time we have a fully fit squad it will be easier for people to see it's not as bad as they think.
They all know each others game now and i think too much disruption wouldn't benefit us.

Weren't you saying he was going to a top Premier League team, which has now changed to probably a team in the Championship slightly better than us?

He's still here several transfer windows later, which is really where your frustration is, not at me.

Eccles is a great player, going through a shit spell. He's a lot better than some of you ever give him credit for, and that also comes from your Sheaf delusion - needing to knock other players down to inflate him.

Btw, can everyone see why Rapha hasn’t been given more of a chance now? New Tavares. Needs to go out on loan as when we’ve got players back he is getting nowhere near the team.

I agree. Sending him out on loan to develop is probably the way to go.

It is far too early to say whether he is going to be a good player or not.

He could yet turn out to be very poor or the second coming of Ronaldo.

The delusion is you think Eccles is great but going through a bad spell but refuse point blank to ever praise Sheaf. I know which will get the biggest fee and thats even allowing for the disparity on contract length they both have left.

No, I will and have praised Sheaf. I just don't buy into the deluded nonsense about him which has been proven several times over already, partially by the fact that he is still actually here.

I don't think I ever said he was going to a "top Premier League team."
Like Callum 'the burden' O'Hare and Jacob Murphy, I do think he'll go on to play for a better team, though.
Your comments about Eccles say it all. I'm not knocking him either but to call him "a great player" while obsessively going about Sheaf not being good enough (even when he's not playing) is priceless.

The game exposed our lop-sided squad. No cover at RB. No real cover at LB. One of the poorest CH’s I’ve seen as back up in that position. We’ve addressed the midfield. Must be a complete overhaul defensively in the summer.

I think the first minute showed the problem of the high line. A ball behind the defence and Hirst (27) was always going to get there first.

I don't give up on the CBs like some, I think we persevere and they will become a strong unit

I think we’ll see a LB, RB, 2x CB, RW in the summer with Dasilva, Lati and Binks out, think Bassette out on loan Allen extension of a year with an option of another, attempt to keep sheaf if we fail then a CM to come in on top of the other 5, but the RB and RW will be for cover, CBs will probably be Darling and a left footer with experience (maybe Cameron Burgess), LB will be a key player with Bidwell as backup no idea who we’ll bring in but I’m gonna have a quick scout to see who I want, after a quick scout Turr Rommens please and his teammate Bryan Reynolds as backup to Milan on the right. At RW maybe Kayky from Man City and if Sheaf or Eccles go I’d like Majeed Ashimeru and Michal Sadilek,

although we’d probably need some good money to get all this done I reckon 2m for Rommens, 3.5m for Reynolds (so maybe take a pass there and get a loan or free). Kayky on loan, Ashimeru 1.5m, Sadilek 4m, Darling free, Burgess (out of contract at Ipswich but has a year option) Free/1m, bringing the total up to a potential 12m spend but could be as low as 3.5m (if we dont bring in Reynolds and Burgess comes on a free). These wont be the players we bring in I know and it may be fantasy signings where they’re worth more than I guessed but thats who I’d like

You repeatedly said how he was going to the Premier League, and have since knocked down your own estimations and the value you put on him. You have also said on here many times that he would make a great captain. Instead of accepting that you went a bit over board, you're coming out with comments about Eccles and Jacob Murphy because you don't really have anything else to say.

High line is ok if you have pace to recover like Milan. I actually don't mind Lati but to see him running back in comparison, looked like he was running through treacle.

Yes, Grimes, Torp, Rudoni are ahead of him. I don't think it would be fair to drop Allen either at the moment either, although that may well change. Have you got anything useful to add other than insults? You haven't said anything useful whatsoever.

So we’ve gone from a top Premier League team to the Premier League. I still think he’ll one day play in the PL, despite apparently being 5th or 6th choice for us. The same goes for CoH, who apparently was a burden while with us.

Take your pick, you are the one that keeps moving the goalposts.

Just accept you went a bit over the top with Sheaf. He's still playing for us, no one really wanted to sign him so far. We have also once again been better when he isn't in the team. Your inability to cope with both of those things is ugly, as is your transparent projection to other players which aren't relevant.

When 2 parts of the Collins-Binks-DaSilva triumvirate are on show, we were always likely to be struggling. You all need to chill out and move on.

It’s odd reading all of this, isn’t a big part of how we have played the fact that our last 2 oppositions are much much better teams than us? This was a second string but th et still had Phillips and Szmodics and Broadhead etc, all above our level. Having a go at Saka and JDS (and Raphael!) for example is really unfair. Judge them against QPR not Leeds and Ipswich.

If Sakamoto mixed it up more with which foot he crosses with and only beat his man once the assists would be higher. It's nothing to do with coming back from injury.

Mate, you can polish a turd and roll it in fucking glitter if you want, but at the end of the day it's still a turd.

He's had years of coaching at a far higher standard than here, but at this point in his career he's 4th choice at a midtable championship side for a reason.

Needs his partner in crime Milan with him. They have a good understanding. When he’s exposed on his own it’s easy to double up on him.

It's nothing to do with Milan Sakamoto has his own weaknesses. He has the potential to be better but needs coaching out of his rut.

He's a pretty one-dimensional winger to be honest and very easy to freeze out of a game. Once coaches figured him out by instructing defenders to double up on him he's become very limited which is a shame as on his day he can be a real threat.

I'd look for another option in the summer that can compete with him.

Coach Sakamoto to mix it up and cross with both feet. Because he has shown he can. I am not on the pitch. I'm 63 and sat in the stand and can anticipate what he is going to do.
