I quite like the look of the pace. probably not so attractive if it had melted because the battery self combusted.

https://insideevs.com/news/732648/2019-jaguar-i-pace-battery-fire-recall-state-of-charge-limit/

this charger 80 percenr malarkey is by I would want a full charge range of 400 miles, so 320 max at 80 percent. Throw in the need for air con or heating and that’s probably down to sub 200 miles isn’t it?

I assume they installed a defective battery pack and the obvious solution is to put in a good one.

with that sort of history who would buy one?

They use crap batteries because they Copy nothing. Reliability would be far too mainstream.

It’s just a software update. Tesla get these stupid headlines too. If you applied this outside cars you’d be claiming your iPhone is recalled twice a month.

A software update isn’t a recall. Software is designed to be updated over its lifecycle.

Does the update happen at home, or does the car have to go in to a dealership?
All my Apple stuff updates at home. If I had to take them in to an Apple Store and leave them there for a while I might consider that a recall.
That would be fun with my iMac.

Having met and worked with Jaguar designers and software engineers I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you had to bring it in tbf.

You would get no where near 320 miles on a full charge - 220 is the realistic figure weather depending

It is done over the air so no need to visit a dealership

Real world range says 380km or 236 miles so checks out. Though 550 city driving in mild weather:

I think they ended up buying back about 3,000 cars as the issue couldn’t be resolved

The model ceases this year

It is however an amazing car to drive - Had one for 3 years and 220 worked fine for us.

Awaiting delivery of a Scenic etech now which boasts a 380 mile range - expecting 280 max in real world driving tho

Was looking at an I-Pace as my first EV. How reliable is it? Any known issues other that the recalls?

There is no real answer for this I’m afraid. I had mine for 3 years and didn’t fault me once. My friend had multiple issues with his. It’s the luck of the draw, it appears to be the same with any manufacturer tho
