And how much revenue are you led to believe will be generated from the stadium?

Well I can prove a stadium one hundred yards from the city boundary can increase the attendances by 80% in one year from a stadium ten minutes walk up from its centre.

Yeah, and I can prove that crowds can go down as well as up.

You seem to be missing the point. I would urge you to consider two things;

Wasps would be bankrupt without 365 days revenue
No club has ever been promoted to the premier league without them.

You seem to be like King Canute saying the tide won't drown me if I stick my hand out.

Ask wasps what the revenues are over 10 years at the Ricoh - they won't be able to answer definitively but will answer they need them.

If we don't - why does no other club succeed without them?

That's not the last retail park to built in Coventry is it?

Maybe not but any land identified, even green belt land, will have competition for it and market value for housing land will need to be paid.
Ten acres of farmland worth £8,000 an acre can multiply 80 times with a stroke of the planner's pen.
60 acres equates to circa £30M.

So the facilities will be similar to the Ricoh?

I do agree we need revenue streams. However, I don't believe SISU will be building "The Ricoh II" with a casino, hotel etc.

No idea why you say that? I think he is doing a very poor job for the electorate, he wants to build houses on the greenbelt which is exactly what the public, including me don't want.
Likewise he supports this awful proposal to link Coventry with Birmingham and I sure as hell object to that.
Unfortunately I didn't get to vote against him because he is councillor for a ward in north Coventry.

On a serious point the green belt issue is huge but the truth is it doesn't effect the vast majority of the electorate so there is no engagement.

There are two disastrous projects. One, which is advanced, is the construction of over 1,000 homes behind sandpits lane extending out towards the Horse and Jockey.

The other is a huge development linking the Allesley Green estate to Meriden - wrecking some fantastic countryside and linking the Solihull Borough to Coventry which is very ominous.

Hardly anyone cares though.

Been the way for many years.

The problem isn't people voting them back in, it's that nobody seems able or willing to provide a credible alternative.

Isn't our new stadium supposed to be in greenbelt ?
Don't you want this new stadium ASAP
I suspect NIMBYism will be the first problem wherever it is.
In addition finding land for a stadium over a shortage of housing WILL give Sisu another big stumbling block through the whole planning process.
I suspect we will be at the Ricoh for several more years and ironically contribute to ACL finances and ultimately cement Wasps success.

I doubt we've got the technical skills required for crystal meth, but there's a bit of space around Ryton where they could do some planting, if you know what I mean.

Is drug cultivation allowable towards FFP, as long as it's done on club facilities I wonder? I'll check with the FL, I might have just rescued the season...

Not according to Tim.

Did Tim really say this during the meeting with RBC?

Comments attributed to Tim Fisher in the meeting read: “There are investors interested, so long as the physical resource is outside of Coventry (due to Coventry Council doing a hostile takeover of the club they don’t wish to invest in Coventry).”

Strikes me if he did that it's an ill advised thing to say in a meeting with a local authority about a neighbouring local authority.

I always put my argument across. It is for the record that councillor Maton said that there is no site available in the Coventry council boundary - his statement.

This whole thread is ridiculous for many reasons. One is the assertion you need to be closer to a city centre to attract greater crowds. Really think about that and it's pretty absurd.

Starting to think you're just a bit thick, never attribute to malice and all that.

How does saying " not sure theres a suitable site" equal "we won't work with anyone". You really are stretching now.

"potential investors" that makes me laugh too. Fisher could tell some on here the great sky God Oooboogoo won't allow it and they'd be on here arguing it in earnest. And probably claiming it was Ann Lucas who angered Oooboogoo.

Get a bit of independent thought guys.

So explain one thing then. CCC say that there is no land inside Coventry for a stadium. The last one was right on the boundary and cost over 20m to decontaminate the land. We have a long debate on how close we could get a stadium built as there is nowhere within the boundary of Coventry suitable. But Grendel has always blamed CCC for not letting SISU build within the boundary. And still words this way when everyone agrees. And if you pick him up on it you become CCC sheep.

SISU fucked up big time. You are not a lover of CCC for seeing the obvious and stating so. Just the same as you are not a SISU lover for having a go at those saying something against SISU. But it looks like you are though.

Sorry I'm not keeping track of every argument made these days as I can't be bothered so my post doesn't relate to a specific point about boundaries and planning permission or whatever.

My comment about the sheep was just a generalisation of people who have swallowed up everything CCC have told them over the last 30 months, which a handful of people have.
Yet shmeee was falsely trying to make out its the other way round and that people believe everything Fisher says with his comment about a god. Which isn't true for 99.9% of the people, theres maybe one person on here that his comment could apply to.

So 99.9% of our supporters don't try to blame CCC for most of what has happened?

No, most of them rightly blame SISU. Of these people some of them can also see CCC have acted inappropriately in this whole saga, the rest can not see this.

SISU are strategically incompetent with no cash for the team let alone for Stade de SISU, a meeting with RBC hardly represents true intent
CCC have been less than straight with the fans / citizens and are unlikely to support new stadium inside or on the borders of cov
Massive shortage of housing putting pressure on any available geenfield or brownfield site

I think we will be playing at WASP's nest for the next 5 years at least

All the arguing and point scoring doesn't really make a difference. Any new stadium won't be in the City centre anyway, so fans will have a choice of going or not.

Only some?

I have been accused several times of being a CCC lover. That is after countless times of saying what CCC did wrong. The main reason for this is being vocal against SISU. And I defend SISU when I see them as not being at fault for something. But all this is forgotten once I make a comment some don't agree with and I become a CCC lover again.

You can go into the some category if you like?

The main culprits on here that spring to mind are italia, dongonzalos, MMM, Jack Griffin and The Gentleman. + more but these seem to be the most frequent.

Apologies to any of the above if you disagree and are offended.

I'm not a CCC lover but I do understand why they sold to Wasps. Some on here expected CCC to wait while Sisu or a new owner in the future decided to take over.
The risk was that ACL would be vulnerable during that wait and Sisu would almost certainly exploit that.

I wanted Sisu to take over ACL but they didn't and their rhetoric was a new stadium, which may or not be a bluff.
