I'm sure we negotiated first refusal on him, at a pre-agreed value; which would have been quite paltry at the time he left Forest as his stock was so low.

Have faith in Waggott's forethought and vision....

Maybe I'm being a bit naive but he came from The Championship after a period struggling to make an impression. He was tagged by some Forest fans as David McGoaldrought, he has a spell at a league One club where he is played every week, has avoided injury, is helped by players who are arguably better than many of their opponents and all of a sudden he is a superstar for succeeding. If I was his advisor I would be saying push your current club where you are well respected for some financial incentive and stay at the club where you are rebuilding your reputation until at least the end of the season. Trouble is agents don't give a bollox about players actually playing football, uprooting families, short termism etc because they are just vile leeches after a quick commission. He needs some independent advice or a strong character to make the right choice here.

Good point, but misleading surely? SISU have cash within their funds. If they're not paying rent to strengthen their negotiating position for rent reduction, that's lamentably low from a moralistic standpoint, but understandable.

But McGoldrick would be an investment at the right price. If they'll not countenance such when there's a chance of return on an appreciating asset, then that's more worrying still iny view

Just read the Telegraph article now. You have to have sympathy for ACL, they will know we have tossers like David Bell commanding £260,000 per annum from his contract for doing nothing whilst they can't get a penny and all the time their own bankers need repayment on their own multi million pound borrowings. The whole world is all about debt restructure, its a sorry state.

If/when McGoldrick goes I'd like to see us go for Leon Clarke, been scoring regular for past few seasons.

If/When he goes I fear SISU won't replace him. They will provide a plethora of excuses as to why we have to play Elliot/ROD/Ball or any of those other non strikers that we currently possess. By then, we could have exited all the cups and be lower mid table and they'd claim we are not playing for anything I suppose. Key to keeping McG is being as succesful as possible in all competitions till the negotiating time arrives.

This is one area I see people being harsh in SISU. We have a very large squad. We have a masive wage bill. They need us to go up ASAP. The way I see it is if they can keep McG they will. If they can see a chance of going up and he goes they will try and replace him. They are a season too late, but at least now they know they have to speculate to have a chance.

And if they do take a chance and speculate and we fail to get promoted? What then?

We're not Southampton, we're not Norwich we haven't got money to burn nor a fan base to help meet those costs.

We have already taken that risk this season. Hopefully it will help when winter happens and injuries happen more frequently. We are not relying on our youth players.
