My favourites were the rumours that Fox and Turner missed pre-season games because they were about to be sold and we didn't want to risk injuries. Hang on, those one's were true...

Do you mean Dennis O'Brien, Brian McDermott being the ex Leeds and Reading manager, Dennis O'Brien worth a few quid it seems and mates with the Wasps owners?

Was thinking the same about Brian McDermott. Do you mean Denis O'Brien A formidable character if it is. Is set up in Malta, so that fits in with a link to the Wasps guy. Already has connections in football with the Irish FL and is a minor shareholder in Celtic. Is apparently worth 3billion and perhaps the most telling thing linking him with a move for Coventry, he has a history of court involvement with authorities source, wikipedia.

Brian McDermott! If you are going to spread rumours then try to make them plausible by using a suitable name.

You could have used Denis O'Brien, John Magnier, JP McManus or others that have or had football interests.

I would take relegation to get rid of SISU.

What they would do as a parting shot is the worry.

The departure of SISU is the main key to the future of the club now. I doubt they will ever make the decisions needed to enable us to truly compete again, even at this level. So many times just when I've thought things are settling down and I could put all the other fuck ups behind me, they usually announce another bombshell. Some folk might be satisfied with the club trundling along on borrowed time but most need to have a little more optimism and to believe that next season won't be just another mess of broken promises, court cases and lies about fictitious stadiums. I guess we have to imagine they will be staying though so :
First things first, get the right manager and back him and get the bloody accounts in on time to enable us to at least plan to use our paltry budget and lets not start building a team for 2015/16 in August, lets get a solid squad together by the beginning of July. Lets get some positive dialogue going with our new landlords and see if we can't get a few new revenue streams put in place and how about a quality new strip for the year, available for all the youngsters to buy in time for the summer months ?!

If you can't see your way to some of these basic programmes for improvement Joy, then I suggest you get on your bike and break the bad news to your investors !?

While we're on about loaded Irishmen, what about Michael O'Leary, boss of Ryanair? Oh, silly me .............. he would want paying to take it off SISU's hands

The Sixfields year has done so much damage, when a chance of reconciliation appeared SISU only made things worse it is as though they want an empty stadium.

They have to go, then a line can be drawn the new owners can work with Wasps and the club can move forward.

Let's not work with Wasps.

SISU go, fine, but let's not work with equal money and profit oriented sharks.

Wasps own the stadium, its our stadium no other one will be built so we have no choice.

Coventry City FC has the chance to be bigger than Wasps RFC (not the RFC on here).

We have plenty of choice, same as there were plenty of options other than move to the RIcoh in the first place, same as it was never SISU or nothing.

To narrow it down to supporting money oriented profiteers who care little for sports clubs makes it utterly redundant getting rid of money oriented profiteers who care little for sports clubs.

Good luck finding a non-money oriented billionaire. If there was a mental fan out there we'd have seen him by now. All we've got is Gary Hoffman.

Fan ownership with debt cleared please. (Sorry I thought this was the make believe thread)

Edit: If this was true and Sisu decided to pull the plug I reckon we've got a good chance of starting again with a points deduction and a fan consortium a la Pompey. It'd be worse if they didn't pull the plug to be honest.

Quite and how can CCFC not work with Wasps. The sale of the Ricoh was wrong, but it's a done deal now and the only way forward for any owner is collaboration, certainly until any other credible solution is formulated !

I agree with Lord Ashdown mate of mine had a chat with Waggot yesterday and Waggot said we are at a point of no return and my mate who doesnt tread lightly said do a deal with Wasps before we end up with nothing!
Waggot admitted something needs to happen so maybe at last they realise the fun and games fooking about in court etc and non existent stadiums arent fooling anyone.

They did. An owner's drive for a ground crippled Stockport, almost terminally.

You'd think, having cheered the arrival of SISU, we wouldn't sleepwalk into a desire to involve ourselves at ever greater depth with clubs and owners that show distinctly dubious practices.

But (and we'll charitably say it's desperation) it appears many are happy to roll over and have their tummy tickled... before being knifed repeatedly.

Tbf I doubt Waggot has any influence on the court action, that is all coming from Sepalla above. Waggot is just told the circumstances and told to get on and deal with it.

It is desperation. That's exactly the point most are at. Aside from pie in the sky fans consortiums and Arab billionaires, what else are we hanging on for?

Many have grudgingly accepted that football is now a game for rich twats who either want a plaything or to dodge tax. Rule them out and have no superfans ready to step in and what do we have other than hope for the best of a bad bunch?

Rotherham, Scunthorpe (their second ground in 30 years), and Bristol Rovers (especially relevant to us as they had Eastville sold from under them, moved away from Bristol, managed to find a home they owned (the owning of, incidentally, ending up causing Bristol RFC severe issues in losing their home) and are now looking to move again) are not exactly sides with gargantuam wealth.

You say no superfans but... we a) haven't had the opportunity to see if they're out there and b) whenever the faintest chink of a change of ownership comes in, we throw ourselves behind one option only, and thus make it a bit pointless anybody else even trying.

So in the past we've had SISU or death (bollocks) and then we've had Hoffman and Elliott loitering around, trying to do exactly what SISU did and positioning themselves before any actual chance comes up, so they have no opposition...

And now we have an absolute mentalist (Byng) who despite being seemingly deeply underqualified for the gig, is the one filling the Elliott and Hoffman role.

That doesn't make them the only options, but all the time they're seen as such, makes it more likely they become so!

Hey, I'm with you, I'll happily live in hope but have no expectation (I don't want Wasps to buy us TBH).

With that in mind: If you're reading this and you're a millionaire City fan, now is the time to make yourself known.

And this is exactly why it's dangerous to campaign for one thing over another. For me (me) my own morals and principles would see me give up entirely if we get too closely into bed with a franchise. Maybe (maybe) that is the only option... but the danger of how the club is, is it's likely to attract those who play fast and loose with risk. The city (and club) has enough size, heritage and tradition to make it of appeal to others however - it would be wise to remember that.

Wasps isn't the only option, of course, but it's the manipulation of popular opinion that would help to make it so. If nothing else, a discourse of 'we HAVE to do a deal with Wasps' puts them on the front foot in negotiations and guarantees our death by eleventy billion cuts takes another few thousand, as any deal would not be to our advantage.

Now probably isn't the time for someone to show, btw, as it needs SISU to be more prepared to go. That's not the same as saying there's nobody but SISU though, that's absolute garbage too.

Another fine example of other options, btw, is Plymouth. The administrator (ACL's preferred one) positioned one consortium as only option - they weren't. Now it's still early days, but their current owner appears to at least have the interests of the club at heart... which is certainly more than the administrator preferred option.

Now if they'd just rolled over and shrugged their shoulders...
