Doyle could be in tomorrow, Grimmer will be and Andreu is running but is a long way still

Robins was also asked about the progress of Midfielder Tony Andreu, and while the Frenchman has been running, remains a long way from fitness.

"Tony is rehabilitating and running. He’s working and has got to in getting back from this injury.

"You have to when you have a cruciate knee ligament injury, but just because he is running it doesn’t mean he is near to being fit. He’s had a graft onto the bone and that’s got to take, so the more strengthening work he can do the more chance he has of that graft holding."

Andreu still a long way out then. Bone grafts are awkward. 4-6 months to fully heal so will be out at least until summer depending on when he had it done.

It's good Andreus out running let's hope there's no set backs...any news on Jones?

Would have thought he would be a couple of months behind Andreu still

Maybe but he is also a lot younger so may respond/heal a little quicker

I still think they will both be out for the season, there isn't much point rushing them back.

Although we need them both desperately I'd rather them both be fully recovered by next season. ACL's have a horrible habit of recurring if they're not rehabilitated properly

Good God absolutely not bring them back this season a good pre season under their belts and ease them back in

Swansea had that Bodde character in Championship. One of the best in the league, but kept kept getting the same injury over and over. Never the same player. We have to especially look after Jones.

Andreu and Jones will be like new signings next season’s. Both out with ACL’s, you can’t take any risks rushing them back in.

Mighty shame Doyle has been out recently, such an important player for us, and the exact kind of CM we need in this league.

You do wonder how different things would have been with jones and Andreu. I know every team has injuries but to have your two best attackers out with ACL injuries really is horrendous luck

Glad Doyle and Grimmer are nearly there - missed them a lot!

As for Jones and Andreu, i think deep down we all knew they'd be out for the season so not too much news there. Wouldn't risk rushing them back

Even I am happy to admit we have missed him. Brighton aside as he may have struggled with their pace but the league games he’s missed we have been crying out for a player like him.

But certainly McNulty stepped up to the plate and although Biamou has not scored much he has supported McNulty very well - with some goals from others - i have to say up to last three matches when the team looked basically fucked

But the goals from ‘others’ has been awful for a team chasing promotion. We are one of the lowest scorers in division. I get your point about mcnulty though

Andreu was at gym yesterday with one of the physio’s doing some strength work, didn’t get to speak to him, but looked a couple months away at least was being watched very closely by physio.

Christ I remember him, he was a great player! It seems to be a common injury for a lot of centrally positioned players. E.g. Jimmy Bullard, Jem Karacan etc.

I'm definitely excited to see them in a sky blue shirt again.

His absence just highlights many of the problems we had last season. Leadership on the field is invaluable.

Specialists say you should normally expect 9 months out with an ACL
Zlatan recently came back after 7 months and unfortunately broke down

Plus they’ll both need a ‘pre season’ to build themselves fit again so it’s a lengthy old process

Id much rather they do let it fully heal, I read somewhere that nowadays they usually come back stronger (the ACL) so hopefully they will both be like new players.

Is there anything that can be done to help prevent it (any stretches, warmups etc) or is it just shit luck when they bend their knee or overstretch?

It's normally a hyper-extension injury where the knee goes the wrong way - either sideways or past ninety degrees
Unfortunately it's a common injury in games like football where players change direction at speed and huge pressure is put on the knee joint

Will Doyle’s return mean Dongle will have to soon come out of hiding?

Think we should write off Andreu for this season, only two and a half months to go. Hopefully will be fit and ready to do by August. Then MR can introduce his new attacking system of play.
