Sheff U to go up, get relegated next season and Wilder to be sacked. Wonder what odds you can get.

I think it's time to revert to 3-5-2 again now.
We will need the extra CH, and Wilson set the clean sheet record when we had 5 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders in front of him.
We can also give Wright and Simms a start together which hasn't happened under FL as yet, maybe he can get a decent tune out of them up front with Rudoni breaking forward from midfield.

Absolutely agree for certain games especially away. Derby showed a team that defends deep causes us problems.

We all acknowledge that neither of Collins or Wilson are of Dovins level. My major concern (apart from shot stopping, dealing with crosses etc) is the impact of Collins playing has on the defence.
We’ve been playing with a higher line recently and I wonder if our defenders will be so anxious about Collins and start to drop deeper, which will give any opposition more space in midfield to exploit.

Collins was in goal during our great run last season, he's not as good as Dovin but we if he get his confidence back he is ok.

Is it unusual for a goalkeeper to do an ACL?

You could tell the way his knee reactd from the impact it was going to be a bad one. Campbell from the 1st minute was at it and had the ref pulled him up for the way he put his face in Grimes he may of calmed down. Horrible player that sort of suits the club and manager.

I thought Grimes deserved a medal for the way he walked away from Cumtbells provocation. What a horrible piece of work that pratt is. Shame Bidwell didn't break the little dicks leg before the end in retribution.

Heard that PNEs goalkeeper (Woodman) has a suspected blown ACL, I assume it happened on the same game day!

Id think it is relatively uncommon though.

Pretty rare as less change of direction movements than other positions

it was Campbell basically sprinting through his standing leg that did it. It’s not supposed to bend that way. Even if he’s cleared it and not turned he’d have still gone through his right leg - perhaps not as weight bearing maybe

I still think there’s no need for him to challenge him like that - he could have just blocked the clearance rather than take him out - he definitely wanted to leave one on him.
I dunno maybe I’m just sore cos he’s out til next year.

Campbell was never even close to winning the ball. It should have been a booking for me, it’s reckless.

Assuming it is an ACL and 9 months recovery it might be a better idea to go for a good keeper on loan (assuming there is one available). Gives Dovin time to fully recover without being rushed back.

Agree with this. Get a PL kid or similar. We should be able to get a decent pedigree. Assume we won’t see Dovin next season.

If Simms, Wright or Bassette had done what Campbell did on an opposition goalkeeper who was trying to be clever, we'd all be saying they had every right to try and go for it. Let's not say otherwise, and the striker has every right to try and challenge a GK on the ball who's under pressure.

It's not like he two footed him, he brushed him and unfortunately the knee has buckled. 99 times out of 100 Dovin gets up there a bit sheepish and we get on with it.

Chelsea have about 15 keepers. Fair play to Frank for not doing the obvious thing and raiding Chelsea for loans in Jan.. but now might be the time.

6-9 months could mean back at the end of September. He's a keeper, not a player like O'Hare or Jones, so I'd assume after strengthening he could hopefully come back at the shorter end of that scale. If that's the case I think I'd hang on and the others are adequate in the meantime or why have them?

If someone experienced possibly, but let's not waste budget on a young loanee for a short term. In fact Bell and Rachel highly thought of, so why not give one of our own kids a chance to shine?

Changed my mind a bit about this.

At first I thought Campbell had the right to go for the ball and it was just unfortunate, especially as the contact came as Dovin turned.

But now I think he didn't need to be that close to charge it down and given his other antics in the game he did intend to catch Dovin regardless to try and get in his head. Will give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't intend to injure him, but I think he did mean to make contact with him.

Agreed, just because Dovin went for a cruyff turn people think Campbell shouldn't have gone for it.

He had every right to go and try and win the ball from Dovin.

Agree, but at the same time it's rub of the green. Simms challenged the keeper at Wednesday, you could say in a similar way to Campbell, actually won the ball and had a legitimate goal ruled out. Campbell got nowhere near the ball and apparently it's fine.

I would have still thought it should have been a booking if it was on Grimes in the centre circle.

The turn did him and he took him out.
