Not seen where anyone has said a certain player is signing. Certain negotiations are going on though. We are not Fester. We will not offer top money to make sure our targets will sign.

McFadden and Alfie would be amazing. FINALLY would give us fans something to be excited about. At the moment, little or nothing.

Would be lucky if we got atleast one, but where would the money come from for ALF if Jutkiewicz does not leave?

Very unlikely. It would contradict everything else we've heard all summer, eg AT's "I can only sign free transfers or loans". McFadden might fit that "franchise player/King replacement" bull that Brody fed us, but I think that ship has long sailed (possibly having sunk, ideally with Brody on it).

As I said elsewhere, I think we'll maybe get Kevin Lisbie. Fits in a bit with Swiss Tonys idea of "adding value" by losing good players for nothing and signing slightly inferior players for nothing as replacements

Two ways at looking at this..

1) We sign McFadden and Le Fondre...They have been targets all pre season, but by signings them now, we have saved the (lets say 10k +3k wages a week over the past 12 weeks, so approx £150k)

2) Or, we have had 12 weeks to sign any outfielder players, just with 48 hours to go to the 1st match, people believe we might sign 2 of them !!!!!!

Number 2 for me, we are stuck with what we have. Cue the "he wanted too much money" story in the CET on friday, whoever they are talking about.

I reckon that we'll get in McFadden and Cody McDonald. Adam Le Fondre will go to Sheffield Wednesday to stay close to his family as he wont have to move even though I think he'd do well in our team and the style of play. The others seem like pure speculation and players that we always seem to be linked with come pre-season. I just hope we get someone in in time for saturday and that we don't leave it to late to register them for the Leicester game.

Bobby Gould on talksport just now,
"Thorny if you don't get anyone in by Saturday, I can play central midfield or up front"

I think we should seriously consider this.

I know it's not this simple, but...

I reckon that roughly £25k/week was probably offered to Gunnar, Westy and King between them, which works out at £1.3m a year that SISU were willing to spend on those players.

Take away a 500k transfer fee from that and it leaves you with 800k, or 15k a week.

So the money saved on KW, MK and AG is enough for a decent transfer fee and wages for 2 players.

Yeah, but that's if you believe SISU have every intention of matching last years budget. Whilst they claimed that initially, we can all see now it isn't going to happen.

Some of you will remember my AT "..at the very last minute" quote from inside the dressing room, so maybe saving wages over the summer was the plan? Unlikely though. If it isn't a last minute signing of Lisbie (the "under the radar" player AT spoke of), my other vague whisper is 2 loan signings made on Friday, most likely from the same side-one probably a RB.
