Villa mate says he’s got a bit of Grealish about him. Few more tricks though. Doesn’t sound one to track back or tackle so imagine he will be played further up in the “Bright” role.

was just wondering if he'd come straight in.
Played a lot in pre season for Villa so he should be up to speed fitness wise.

Obviously we haven’t seen him yet but CAMs aren’t known for their work rate. Westbrooke and Shipley have been a huge part to our good start, not just the scoring and assisting goals but mainly their work rate has been phenomenal. Seems odd to bring in a player and then immediately play him out of position.

Westbrooke wasnt great against Rovers or Pompey. He's decent back up. If we have promotion ambitions we need better. Hopefully o'Hare and Allen will do the job.

I think he wants to sign Clarke - I don’t mind Clarke actually despite all the nonsense on here

We will pick up knocks and suspensions. This bolsters the quality when these occur, so can only be a good thing. Like others have said, season long loan is less unsettling for the player and us: just hope Blues fans forgive us!

Villa fan at work says he didn't look bad playing in the Championship for them and will be very good in league 1.

Who is Callum O'Hare? The wonderkid in the squad against Blues

I've also been told he's more of an attack minded CM than a 10.

Anyone else surprised that we haven't taken another youngster on loan from Chelsea? After the success with Sterling i thought they would be keen to develop another one with us.

From the sounds of this it might be that he even replaces Jobello for Saturday if he did pick up a knock and the midfield three remain the same, but long-term it sounds like he'll play in front of the two deeper midfielders.

I never had a problem with him; only caveat is I haven't followed his career/performances/injury record since. If he was anywhere near when he left, I'd be fine with it.

Exciting signing, at least these days we sign players on loan with a purpose. I shudder back to just 3 years ago when Andre Wright rocked up...

It isn't Championship Manager. How would be playing a midfielder in midfield be 'out of position'?

Because there are different roles midfielders play?! By your logic, Makalele could play left wing? (my references need updating!). When you play a 433 you need the middle 3 to be industrious. Who knows, he might be... but a “CAM” just didn’t seem the highest priority.

Anyway, Robins knows more than me. PUSB!

You can talk about levels etc but Iniesta certainly wouldn't be described as "industrious", and from what I hear, I think he did okay in a midfield 3

Too much into it. That gif is one of the first that pops up when you search 'Pen'.

We need him for cover at least, Westbrook runs himself into the ground, and needs the odd break.
Jobello falls asleep and loses his man.
Allen's Injury is taking it's time
Kastaneer is suspended, but looks like an impact sub player (heavy impact)
Shipley works very hard but lacks the tricks to unlock defences.
And if Kelly gets injured we are in big trouble.
So all in all he looks a great addition.

Haha fair point but I don’t think he could do what he did for Barca in league 1. Teams playing Barca in the Iniesta years just sat in their own half. They hardly needed a back 3

I like the bit where it says he embarrassed Virgil Van Djik in an under 23’s game

Nooooooo. Iniesta not industrious. He was always on the move ( if by industrious, you mean Vinnie Jones, then I retract my query!)
