In The Times today a Coventry City fan, identified as CJ, who is at the World Cup is quoted as saying 'For me, this is better than when we won at Wembley and got our first promotion since 1967'. He can't be a real fan, can he?
it's down to him. Personally not massively into international football and for me, football wise, nothing gets close to City doing well but if that's how he feels good luck to him.
To be fair, CJ wouldn't have been about in '67, so wouldn't have been able to compare it. He follows England everywhere and may change his mind if we don't win it! For me, it's CCFC every time, but I'm still enjoying this.
I'll be with CJ if we win the bloomin thing. Just getting to the semi final is nowhere near on par for me at the mo. We win it though, it will surpass the City's achievement for sure in my eyes.
Think CJ is England over CCFC, said it a few times but it's personal preference! When he is following them around the world you can't really blame him, investing all that time and money When you are that hardcore are going to be massively attached aren't you? No issue from me, can't question him as a CCFC fan either really.
CJ follows England home & away, must spend a fortune. He is also very much a City fan and is often on here.
Yup. Doesn't mean you love the City any less. Just one achievement is more important than the other in the grand scheme of things. I do believe that after the 66 World Cup attendances rose throughout the country. Sure I read that somewhere.
Just proves you shouldn't judge someone or draw conclusions on the basis of a few words in a newspaper doesn't it. CJ doesn't need to prove his passion for Ccfc to anyone, the lad has done that over many years in a variety of ways from matches home and away, involvement in the trust, helping at various events etc. He also follows England home and away with his England flag including Ccfc on it, can't blame him enjoying that England success just now can you ?.
Just depends which way you like looking through the telescope. How he like to follow the sport and what he prioritizes is up to him.
I don't know - I like CCFC, I want England to win, CJ seems a nice bloke, Tim Fisher less so, I like Harry Maguire, but I hate Leicester. The world is confusing at times.
For me always City first, England 2nd. Each to their own and neither wrong just my preference. PUSB and England
Is CJ, Coventry City supporter, widely qouted in today's Times supplement, the very same chap who posts on here? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
You've lost me. Maybe I'm suffering from sunstroke. Or lack of beer. Probably both. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
All I know is that I was jumping round the pub like a twelve year old when England scored every goal (except a few of the latter ones vs Panama), and I was jumping round like a twelve year old at every CCFC goal at every stadium I visited on my various travels throughout the season... Win9nut (12 years old )
Generally International football is slow and boring, although I have been impressed with a lot of the games in this year's world cup, and this is the best I have seen England play in years (admittedly I don't watch that many games), but club before country 100%
Must admit, I don't celebrate an England goal like I do a CCFC goal (on TV or not). There isn't that sudden loss of control and jumping about like a twat.
Yes indeed, but what's that got to do with the stripes vs plain debate? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
Not a real fan 2007/08 we did ever home and away game in all competitions together just so we could say we had done a full season that included Carlisle on a Tuesday night. Full time at Wembley he comes flying down 10 rows to hug me in an outburst of emotion if he isn’t a city fan none of us are If england win it I’d say it will most likely feel better then when we went up and that’s watching from home I can’t imagine what it’s like when your out there making 20+ hour train journeys all over the country meeting new people ect and watching it live
If we win the world Cup the reaction of the people across the Coventry, and the country, will be far greater than when we got prompted this season. The streets will be chocka Sunday night should be make the final and win.
Sure did. I spent a good half hour looking at this a few weeks back to see just how much crowds dipped in the 80's: Premier League 1965/1966 - Attendance There's a big uplift after the WC in average of about 3k. It had dropped off since the 50's. Of course it dipped again by the next WC to almost pre-66 levels!
Just have to do Croatia first before we get carried away and theres two other teams apparently who dont deserve to win - COME ON ENGLAND
If this is the City fan CJ that I know. Don't know why anybody wants to quote this numpty. Most of the time he talks bollox.
