I’ve been saying this to friends, if we win those two games we will no doubt be going up to the Prem.

I’ll be looking at booking my Wembley hotel after the Preston game if we win.

If we come out of Feb in touching distance I’ll believe and will change my avatar to Lampard as a sign of contrition.

I thoroughly enjoy Lampard's charisma both on the touchline and in interviews. Robins will always be one of our greats but a new generation of player joined within 18 months and I never felt like he connected with them. He didn't have the trust and respect that he previously garnered from older professionals like Godden, McFadzean, Kelly etc.

The likes of Torp and Rudoni seem to be playing with greater freedom and have taken onboard new coaching advice. There seems to be a level of respect for Lampard and some of that may come from the fact that some of these lads would have been watching him lift European trophies on ITV and playing with him on FIFA.

This week, especially at Blackburn, there were moments of genuine tactical class from Frank and the coaches. Allowing us to go long in periods. Soaking up attacks and then swiftly transitioning into a more aggressive style of play. It really isn't pretty, but it's sturdy and currently effective. When we have players of genuine quality, those of which had a severe lapse in confidence, you can soak up pressure and punish sides on the counter-attack or through moments of brilliance from Rudi/Torp.

Yeah, we'd probably need to win 10 of the last seventeen games to even get close. Not seeing it. Just enjoy what will hopefully be a strong finish and a big push next season.

I think we’ve been left with too much to do this season but already excited for the next one to see what Lampard can do.

I think the time to really judge if the appointment has worked is the start of next session (if we don't go up) I imagine MR could do what Lampard has given his track record. What was frustrating is always starting the season with a mountain to climb of our own making. I want to see new players bedding in quicker and is taking chances early on.

I do think we probably have a bit too much to do but remain optimistic as the league is so unpredictable. Just chatting to a mate who is a Boro season ticket holder and he said they're crying out for a tough central defender. This goal they gave away yesterday was up there with Collins' howlers:

We have a shot this year. 4th and 5th ere open to a out 8 teams and we are one of them.

If there is a mason mount like quality loan out there then it could increase our chances but with wright emc and sheaf to come back the current squad has a shot as it is

I've never heard this before. I remember the story but I never realised he took on the smarmy O'Brien to correct him for spreading lies. It takes balls to put yourself on the radio, discussing all your personal problems with a journalist that thinks you're scum.

O'Brien gets his arse absolutely handed to him here:

February does look tough, I think we will be lucky to take more than 6 points from those 5 fixtures, purely because we play 2 bogey teams, the league leaders, and even QPR have been on a good run, although they haven't played anyone special in that run of 4 wins. But March should make up for it as we play Oxford, Stoke, and Derby. Even Sunderland don't worry me as we seem to be their bogey team.

I was really shocked to learn that two of the most successful clubs (for their size) in the PL, Bournemouth and Forest are the two teams that are way ahead of all the other sides in getting the ball forward quickly. Often kicking it long. The worst side for a slow build up and possession based football are Southampton, although there are other reasons for their overall crappiness. Be interesting to see if Bournemouth and Forest get found out near the end of the season.
Portsmouth at home are a classic example of this approach along with their overly physical game. At present, they can't seem to reproduce that form away.
Like Robins before him, I think circumstance has meant Frank has had to abandon the lets keep moving the ball around keeping possession model. I also feel the huge increase in potential subs has finally filtered through that you can't tire the opposition out then pick them off.

The team seem to have a bit of a hybrid approach at the moment. Sometimes gradual build up, sometimes the longer pass, but they're definitely moving it quicker.

Cov has always been Coventry Rugby. I have no idea why our players and some fans have latched onto it.

We are ‘City’ hence the end of the Sky Blue Song isn’t ’Cov Cov Cov’. Starting to wonder if they’ll change the words at this rate

I understand that Pompey are essentially resting all their best players away from home…or they have the last few games.,

It’s not about keeping in touch for me and I won’t be judging Lampard on that

It’s great we’ve hit a run of form and all and props to Lampard for that, but it probably says a lot about the quality of the rest of the division that we actually could make a run at it than it does about us - We’ve been mostly poor and inconsistent up until last week and we are still only 6 points off the play offs

A 9th-12th finish I’d be happy with and anything above that is a massive bonus

I don't think so, you see this sort of thing happen in all divisions every season, there are always teams that have good runs and storm up the table and teams that have bad form or bad injuries and drop down.

In fairness we are 12 th and 6 points from the playoffs

Last season 13th place we're on 38 points after 29 games chasing a team in 6th on 44 points called coventry city

The season before we were on 38 points in 15th after 29 games also 6 points from 6th

At this point the league table is similar to the last 2 years
