I'm sure we'd all love to see us playing beautiful, free flowing football and winning games in style, and I'm sure down the line, Lampard would like to have us playing that way as well. But the brutal fact of the matter is, the squad as it is now just doesn't have the facilities for it. Having Wright and Mason-Clarke back fit might be able to change that, although they're going to need time getting up to speed.

It might not be pretty, but for the time being if it gets us picking up scrappy wins, then so be it.

The football is no worse than the rest of this season. Not as good as times last year or the year before but it’s not accurate to say it’s got worse this season under Lampard, IMO.

Definitely seeing less aimless long balls, but we see a lot more sideways passes at the back. We lack a creative 6 who can take the ball from the defence and start attacks and we all know lati’s/thomas limitations playing a forward pass. Given the clown show our defence has been at times this season I don’t think playing a more controlled build up style is bad thing, how many times have we been cut open this season when the game opens up.

Lampard is slowly getting more from the players , to accept the change that’s taken place .
No massive new manager bounce , just an acceptance of the players we have , to perform better .
A great 3 points yesterday, without arguably our best 4 players …..

Has he had a relatively decent run of games , yes he has but you have to factor in that he's missing his best player and an in form EMC

I think there’s still more to come and we can definitely get better as you’ve said. Get EMC and Haji back, maybe we can have a good run in to the end of the season.

Definitely a good starting point, could’ve been better potentially, but that’s fine. It was never going to be perfect was it.

There’s a massive improvement in our team-the way we set up, the tactics and the way most players actually sticking to their roles.

Definitely an improvement (this season) than under Robins as well.

The reason why players are improving is because they are being coached properly-that’s Lampard and his back room staff.

Players are obviously buying into whatever Frank’s saying and team cohesion, commitment and confidence is positive.

We’re beginning to see the qualities of some of our newly bought players too.

Can only get better when injured players come back.

Spot on

We are less cavalier now which at times is less exciting but we do look a little tighter at the back and more in control.

Frank won it all at club level but most of his many managers were pragmatists and it should be no surprise that we see such traits in him.

I am certainly not getting carried away JDS is still not great and BTA cannot control or keep the ball for the majority of times, he was aiming at one of the pigeons yesterday and mishit it and it shot into the goal, bamboozled their goalie who makes Collins look like prime Gordon Banks ...long may it continue and then maybe I may get carried away for one reason or another

Put this onto X, but going to pop it here as well.

Under Robins: PL14 L7 D3 W4 PTs: 15 (Average: 1.07ppg)
Under Frank: PL10 L3 D3 W4 PTs: 15 (Average: 1.5ppg)

We’ve also conceded less goals on average and scored more under FL than we had under the last permanent manager.

This is taking into account that EMC has been missing for four games, as well as Haji throughout all of FL’s spell.

Is it brilliant, no, but is it a solid start point, yes.

People will argue “Robins would’ve had more points” and maybe that’s true, but we’ve played well at times under Lampard and really should have three more wins minimum than we do currently.

*I also missed that since Lampard took over we’ve been unbeaten at home.

On a couple of occasions there was some slick one touch passing that I’d not seen for months. We’re also moving the ball with more purpose and intent

I can only presume those grumbling didn’t see games like QPR and Derby earlier in the season.

I think for many(not all) the moaning about quality of football is a bit like their methadone after their heroin addiction to saying lampard is a disaster appointment and taking us backwards etc

They are not ready to admit they were wrong all along after arguing with many posters about it. So for now it's "well results r ok I guess but the footy is shit!"

To be fair, 2nd half and ET last week was truly awful, and I'd argue with anyone who said it wasn't
But yesterday was a different game and a huge improvement for me.

I think if we're at the point where we are looking for the perfect game then it must mean we are already in a good place

For what it's worth I don't think we are at that point yet . Still stuff to improve but it's not any worse than it was before he got here even when it is bad.

Yeah, there were definitely negatives yesterday. But when there's a lot of improvement in other areas you've got to be pleased.

Bristols recent good form has been based on picking up points against teams similar to the ones we had games against in December/New year.

Just didn't go well for us that spell but it's done now. Pity, but itvis what it is.

I'd take a draw Vs Blackburn but if we win I think alot of people will start to get that feeling of excitement back. Especially if we progress past Ipswich in cup too. Big ask but be nice to see the crowd positive and bouncing again

And a feature of this forum is people putting out what if scenarios to prove their point!

I appreciate you weren't really trying to paint a what if scenario but I just think when you start talking about being unlucky you're going down that route.

We've been the architects of our own downfall on many occasions and got what we deserved because of it, but saw yesterday out well and never really lucked in danger towards the end so hopefully lessons have been learned

It's entirely possible to think the football is shit to watch at times and not be a heroine addict .

Even the bbc were saying it was an awful game first half , second half we were a bit better and we could have scored a couple

Difficult job to stop the continuous stupid goals and impose a new attacking style at the sane time.
That together with losing three very key players, has probably driven - as he alluded to - of grinding out the points to give us some headspace.
Imagine going gung-ho with a progressive style in a relegation battle in this division! Then there would be whinging about the atmosphere on here!

Like I said Evo some not all. You have said many times you think we played good stuff under robins so I'm not doubting your sincerity.

But let's not pretend there ain't some on here who are anti lampard trolls. Look at some of the own goals they scored last night on this forum. Laughable if not so sad.

I will try to summarise the good points as seen by myself & other posters.
The defence is much better, we are keeping some clean sheets
We have much better form, 1.5pts per game since FL was appointed
We are unbeaten at home since FL was appointed
The squad is being well utilised and FL has found an effective formation
The team is managing to get results despite key players being injured
Players are being played in their natural positions
Some players like Torp and Dovin are playing much better
Everybody has been given a chance, e.g. Kitch coming back has been good
Fitness in the squad seems to be improving

On the other hand
There are too many weak passes that give away possession
A few players have lost form MVE & Eccles, temporary I am sure
The play can be less exciting than it has been, but if we win I do not care
Away form is still poor
Injury problems are not going away
Cover at left and right back is particularly thin

Feel Lampard isn’t learning any lessons when trying to see out a game. It’s crazy that a player with all that experience and having played under Mourinho, hasn’t picked up any nous at all.

If that chance in the dying moments yesterday hits the back of the net, it would have been fully on him. It was a similar position to Norwich’s first goal.

We had 4 substitutions and 2 stoppages left, it was baffling he didn’t use them in injury time and nearly cost us again.
