It’s an incredible turn around from where Robins left us. We were absolutely desperate.

In your opinion. And that’s back to my point about the main difference being whether you’d lost the plot over robins or not.

The facts are we’ve gone from lower mid table to mid table. He’s done well this last month, I’m just not booking Wembley and worrying about Man City poaching him just yet.

Well you've post the plot over Robins thats clear
I'm gonna leave it there though, you're a decent guy who's helped me get tickets in the past, but yeh on this subject... not sure where to start really.
Far more likely to be asking you for help with tickets again under Lampard that's for sure

Getting rid of Robins and replacing him with Lampard was absolutely the correct decision, IMO.

Fair enough, i think you really have to dig for negatives on Lampard atm though. What he's done with the team so far has been pretty outstanding imo.

The lack of activity and set up against Leeds don't need much digging and we are allowed to be critical of FL and still back him. I would hope he would learn from them & do something differently if in the same position again.

I think people are getting very carried away over narrow wins against poor teams. Lampard has done well so far but has yet to show he can set us up in a positive 4-3-3. If he gets that firing I’ll be convinced

Tbf i am going to just take this chance to do a @covcity4life style gloat, but less trolly... Always said i back my opinions even when unpopular, all of these got me a lot of stick on here at the time.

I said we were no different to any other club and if Robins continued the way was going he'd be canned - he was.
I said the players were more top end than bottom end players and that the players were not the issue - they weren't.
I said another manager could come in and get more from them - he has.

Needless to say i'll stay smug and keep backing my own takes.

We're not reliant on Dovin. Only a few elite teams don't concede big chances in games in the championship, (Burnley being one).

When it happens we now have a keeper who's competent to deal with it more often than not.

Used the example of Leeds, we tested their keeper and he had to pull off one outstanding save, that's what he there for. So even the best team give their opponents big opportunities, it's the nature of the league.

Under Lampard, the games we haven’t been the better team on xG was Cardiff (A), Norwich and Leeds.

It’s not just Dovin coming in that’s turned things around. That’s just plainly stupid take.

In many games in the 22/23 we were just “ok” the football wasn’t particularly free flowing that season but we picked up points in big games.

Towards the end of that season our tactic was effectively - sit back and get the ball to Gyokeres.

it weren’t flowing but it was successful

No, we’ve gone from being closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs and we’re now 3 points off. Shaved 7-8 points in the space of a month.

Seriously, why don’t you just write a post and keep it in your drafts for when form drops like Grendel did regularly under Robins.

Clownish takes that isn’t backed up by any data.

To be fair back then we had a squad assembled for peanuts and padded out with loanees .
Agree it was turgid at times but it was successful and utilised the squad to it's best , and without O'Hare as well

It’s a bit of a cop out answer. The other runners and riders for the job have struggled in their current/new posts. Eustace, Bloomfield and RVN were preferred by quite a lot of posters, particularly @shmmeee who said ‘anyone but Lampard’. He wasn’t alone in having that opinion either.

The only potentially better option than Lampard would’ve been Cooper but I don’t think he’d have took on the job. That’s all academic now anyway.

Yeah but @shmmeee thought that Robins was getting the best out of the squad and didn't lose his way.

I actually don’t think he had. I think he was getting the best out of this squad from the looks of it. My real worry is the guy who assembled the squad is still in charge of assembling the squad.

Let's not forget his weird rants about Lampard not liking CCFC. For somebody who bangs on about people being Twitter Conspiracy Theorists about everything, it's very Twitter Conspiracy Theory.

Its not a cop out, we simply don't know. Unless you've got some portal in to a parallel universe you can't say with any certainty, especially given the amount of variables involved.

What we can judge is how is Lampard doing, I'd say a decent job up to now and I'm confident it will continue.

The stuff about Austin was always weird, i think he became a scapegoat for many. He's actually recruited fairly well and we'd make money on most of them. The squad is in a good place, assuming we don't go up, next phase is to sell one or two for good money and go again.

The problem is some judge recruitment after 10 games and not after a realistic period

Is the argument that we shouldn’t have booted Robins or that we shouldn’t have appointed Lampard?

Both are pretty weird arguments with how things were turning out.

I really don't know what or why but some people really have lost their fucking heads since Robins went. Taking it way too personally.

(Have to be careful as last time I pointed it out somebody was taking it personally they started calling me "little" and some weird threats)

Bit of revisionism here. Lots of people were pointing the finger at recruitment, where they differed was who was ultimately responsible.

Like I keep stating about recruitment. Look back over recruitment over the last 6-8 seasons , how many of our top players were instant successes ?
Vik - No
Gus - No
O'Hare - maybe
MvE - No
Wright - No
Simms- No

I know when you spend big the expectation rises but you have to allow players time to bed into a new team and even a new system.

Decent job? We’re averaging 1.8 points a game without our top goal scorer, then the top scorer in his tenure and last season’s POTS and captain. These are mitigating factors for any manager and had it happened under Robins, I’d probably be arguing he shouldn’t be sacked for our form without those players.

Bloomfield is a rookie and RVN is struggling at Leicester with a near mutinous changing room. Eustace has done alright and kept Blackburn above the line (6th).

Lampard for all his faults, got Derby in the playoffs, finished in the top 4 at Chelsea as a rookie and kept Everton up which at the time wasn’t a bad achievement. If managers like Ancelotti, Dyche and Benetiez struggled at Everton, it’s more likely the club is a basket case rather than those managers including Lampard being incompetent.

With the exception of Haji Wright, (if figures are to be believed),none of them were big money signings by championship standards

Not sure why you're going on about Everton, but the fact remains you can't predict for certainty how a manager would have done in a job he never got.

Big money signings for us doesn't equate to big by Championship standards though.
Several of those players were punts. Gus and Vik at just over a million each were both cheap

I'm not on about the Championship , I'm talking about CCFC who had spent peanuts for many years . Suddenly we spend "big" money by our standards and the expectations of our fan base rises , rises unrealistically a lot of the time .
Thats when the hysteria starts about Austin ,Robins and King not being good enough .

Frankly, I don’t think those managers would be averaging better than 1.8 points without our 3 best players.

Robins, RVN and Bloomfield have won less games than Lampard combined. RVN is averaging 0.85 points a game and a 23% win rate is worse than Lampard at Everton, for reference and if we’re judging them by the same standards as you and others judged Lampard.

Oh I agree with that. But 5he fact remains being a big money CCFC signing isn't/wasn't the same as being a big money signing even if it seemed that way to some of our support
