We were to get promoted back to the prem, say in the next 3 seasons. Do you think it it will be the greatest achievement in the clubs history? (especially after nearly going bust, playing anywhere but at our home ground for years, dropping into L2 etc etc) It would be hard to beat the euphoria of that day back in '87, but I have a feeling that the way the football world is now and the money involved, promotion to the 'promised land' would top anything previously.

It would be a massive achievement but not impossible. Championship is a tough league but looking at it with Leeds, Albion and Fulham out of the way and Wigan gone too I think it’s more open than ever time will tell.

I think it could well eclipse the Hill era. Hill was well-supported by Robbins when at the helm (although Hill did help with accessing new revenues). This time with the amount of money around and the constraints and behind the scenes nonsense that would be phenomenal.

As I said before, we're just one good season away from the Premier league and all it's riches, maybe the investment in players is a hint we're trying to catch this league by surprise and do it?

Personally, that day in 1987 will never be beaten, but then I was around for the Hill era, and for our time in the premiership, so for younger supporters, I can understand the Premiership being the Holy Grail. To be fair, the victory over Wolves in the ‘Midland Match of the Century’ is up there with the Cup win, for drama, atmosphere, and for securing our place in League Division 1, and the chance to see Geoff Hurst, Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Charlton, etc.etc.

They’re tiny fees for the Championship - clubs at this level spend that much for development players

I think it would be massive, I think it’s achievable in the next few years, though it could easily go the other way and we struggle a bit. You don’t have to throw money at it either, you can get to the premier league on a tight budget, but you do need a bit of luck along the way with injuries and other results going your way, something until recently I think we’ve been in short supply of, this could be our time

The Championship has changed a lot since we were there, the investment will be to try and secure our survival

The financial weakening of other clubs due to COVID combined with Wigan’s relegation and Wednesday’s deduction has given us a boosted chance of staying up which is all we should be focusing on. Anything above that is a bonus

I think it would be nothing short of spectacular should it be while Mark Robins at the helm, as the continuity element would be crucial. If another manager came in next season and achieved it, then it would not be the same.

Like others have said I think it would be an even better achivement. IF that happened having enjoyed the first ride from bottom to top this would eclipse that it would be done without much help from our owner(putting my tin hat on now ).Wereas in JH's day he had ever assistance from Robbins.The only difference for me is I was a teenager back then and as such the ride seemed brilliant.

Imagine a time when a club had to play their home games in another city, when a proportion of their support was boycotting the club, where a global pandemic ensued, when side was promoted twice in three seasons and had a chance to go from zero to legends? Yet still some complain.
