So, if you could choose the new CCFC manager form this list of candidates and only this list, who would you opt for?

Bearing in mind, we need to be realistic:

Martin Allen
Dean Holdsworth
Lee Clark
Kevin Blackwell
Danny Wilson
Paul Peschisolido
John Gregory
Trevor Francis
Chris Hutchings
Greg Abott
Mick Wadsworth
John Sheridan
Graham Turner
Peter Taylor
Paul Trollope
George Burley
Paulo Sausa
Steve Tilson
Tony Adams
Glenn Roeder
Joe Kinnear
John Coleman
Mike Newell
Lawrie Sanchez
Bobbie Gould
Stuart Pearce
Peter Taylor
Sammy Lee

In honesty, who from that group would encourage you to renew your season ticket? Who do you feel would create a buzz?

Thanks.

I don't think that is a realistic thread but from your list there is only one that would have me thinking "great appointment" and that would be Lee Clark. However as Huddersfield are probably more likely to be in this league next season and he is already in a decent job with a winning set of players achairman who backs him closer to home and with a team who own their ground I can't see it.

The only blot is him spending £500k on Robbie Simpson - I was simply astounded at that piece of business.

Lee Clark (from same town as me!!!!!) but not realistic at all. Huddersfield are flying high and have money to spend.

1. Sousa - but he's already blanked us
2. Pearce - but no-way he'd leave the England U21 job
3. ???? Steve McLaren (not on the list) - he needs a nice gentle re-introduction to the English game. Where better?

I'd go for Sousa, he'd need some backing though which he won't have, has a point to prove after the mongs job

Quite fancy the dream team of Joe kinnear & Mike Newell.
The press conferences & attitude to the female officials would be something else.

My choice isn't on your list and is a realistic one, Tisdale at Exeter, but of those on your list my choice would be Lee Clark but Huddersfield have much more going for them at the moment than we do. John Sheridan is an interesting one, I watched a bit of Chesterfields game on Sky on Friday night when they hammered Rotherham 5 nil, played some lovely stuff and look set to win league 2 quite easily.

Nick: is there a way on this forum that you can run a poll to see who comes out on top? It doesn't seem very clear cut with most of us having lots of different opinions on who would do a good job so would be nice to see who comes out on top if its possible to do?

Yep, when you add a new thread at the bottom it should say "Add a Poll" :)

The MOST IMPORTANT attribute of any Manager in the Championship is that he can attract upwardly mobile young players who would see in him the chance to improve themselves and move on to a top (Premiership) club within a couple of years. Not many in this list obviously fit that bill: Lee Clark, Paulo Sousa, Stuart Pearce, Sammy Lee but I cannot see any of those being next Sky Blue Manager. As with any list it is always the ones NOT on the list which provoke most thought. I would choose ERIC BLACK from an unrestricted field.
