Who should we be looking to bring in as his replacement?

Did'n't someone mention the Scunny GK? There are one or two in this league all arguably as good as Westwood.

The ones that have been doing the rounds on the rumour mill have been Bell (Kilmarnock), Murphy (Scunny), and Lonergon (Preston). I guess Turner (Everton) could be thrown in the mix since we had him on loan recently.
Thorny has a good ability at picking out fairly obscure players though, so we'll see who he comes up with (assuming he doesn't just decide to stick with Quirke or Ireland).

Joe Murphy ( Scunny )

Joe Lewis ( Peterborough )

Cameron Bell ( Kilmarnock )

Murphy has been mentioned on various occasions but im not sure hes the right replacement. Ive never thought of him as bein better than Westwood, and never the better one out of the two!

Id prefer Lonegan now that Preston have gone down, or Lewis of Peterborough. However both will cokmand a fee. Not sure how much Preston would want but from past experiences, I would imagine Peterborough would command an over exagerated price!

I'm certain the task won't be to find someone as good/better then Westwood but someone who has the potential to do well at this level and develop

Did anyone see Murphy when he conceded the 4th goal (I think it was yesterday)?? Talk about not trying!! Atleast I hope he'd given up cus there was no attempt what so ever to make a save, which keepers are employed to do!

I understand where your coming from LA LA LA however, wouldnt getting someone to develop at this level be a backward step when there are keepers out there capable of matching Westwoods ability??

Murphy is after all 29, so is a 29 year old classed as a player who will come here for 'development'?

I've got total faith in Thorn to bring in the right man. Westy was a great keeper for us but in my opinion is very replaceable. Someone Like Lewis or murphy would fit the bill. What about Kirkland? Out of contract I believe. Quirke has defo got the makings aswell. I'd be more worried about replacing Marlon tbh.

Well I think Joe Murphy is available for free in the summer, but might end up at a Championship club like Middlesbrough and Leicester who have a better chance of promotion. Joe Lewis is overrated due to the England call-up he got when he was in League 2, let in a few clangers this year but not helped by Peterborough's defence. I know nothing about Cameron Bell except he's been picked for Scotland a couple of times.

I think it would be dangerous to not sign anyone and rely on Quirke as the pressure being number 1 for a Championship club probably trying to avoid relegation might ruin his career before he's had a decent crack at it

Hes Huddersfield Keeper
Ages 21 I think
Played for England U19s
He was linked with a few premiership clubs so Hudds made him sign a long term deal don't know how long till or if has a minimum release clause
If Hudds dont get promotion to Championship this season then defiantly worth an investigation.
Also I got to know of him through Football Manager future England number one

Just did a little bit of research

10 clean sheets in 27 appearances this season but

Huddersfield's first-choice goalkeeper Alex Smithies is again expected to miss out with the knee problem that has kept him out since mid-March.

There is no way he'd leave Huddersfield. Hes through and through at that club the club he supported as a boy.

Why not Quirke ? I well remember us playing a rookie keeper in 2001 - Kirkland ! Look how he developed.
