...if the absolute worst scenario happened and SISU decided to liquidate us then what realistically could we do to prevent it from happening. I cannot recall any club of similar stature to Coventry ever being liquidated in recent times. The closest I can recall is Maidstone (hardly a footballing giant) in the early 90s. If (and I know and pray to God it won't happen) this is SISU's intention I can see this being national or even international news for a club who was in the top flight for 34 years, won the FA Cup in living memory and is the ninth biggest city in England to be put out of business by its owners. For no other reason other than there is no precedent for a club of our stature to be liquidated. It's a ghastly thought but surely an issue of this magnitude will be worth getting the Minister of Sport and even the Prime Minister involved in this if it comes to this. Also would fans be able to legally challenge a liquidation of the club. Also if the club was liquidated what would fans do? Would we fans try to refound the club at the very bottom (a horrid thought)? Or would we be forced to support other clubs (an even more horrid thought)?
I can't believe we have arrived at the point where this is now a distinct possibilty. The very thought of liquidating CCFC makes me feel physically sick.
Ditto your last line, the uncertainty surrounding the club is horrible and as fans we deserve better. Not too sure about what we can do legally. IIRC Damien Collins MP spoke about our financial plight not so long ago, I think he's sports minister or something along those lines. I don't understand the world of politics but is there anyway we could get him involved?
Damian Collins is a member of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. He isn't a Minister (the Minister for Sport is Hugh Robertson). Robertson is rather pre-occupied at the moment with some event that is taking place in London in about three months time so perhaps SISU are aiming to time our liquidation when the sporting world is focussing on other loftier matters? I suggest fans write to Collins to see if he will raise our plight at the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. His address is Damian Collins MP, House of Commons, London SW1A OAA. His email is damian.collins.mp@parliament.uk
