What will be your opinion of Thorn?

Of course its all hypothetical, so this isn't about whether you think he has been good bad or indifferent, but if we do stay up will your opinion of him change? Do you think he should or would be given a chance to continue next season? Do you think the fact he will be more experienced and having kept us up would be a huge advantage and that next season would be significantly better? Would he have learned from his errors? Would your opinion be different if he had funds to spend? Would you keep him if the owners change and a different budget available?

Well if we finish and stay up on 40 points, then that will be the lowest total pretty much ever for a team staying up. That will then point to other teams' ineptitude rather than any success of our own.

If on the other hand we finish clear of relegation then in turn he should receive some praise.

I do indeed hope he has learnt from any mistakes. I am always against the forever changing of managers.

They have to know what they are doing though. Some managers obviously deserve to be sacked because the simply aren't good enough.

I couldnt take another season like this one so sorry Andy but you need to leave the managers seat and let someone else take over. Thanks for your efforts, but you a scout not a manager!

I think the problem with thorn is he don't tell the truth and admit he got things wrong,most interviews are repetitive without actually hearing it you get in the and you say straight away to either yourself or passengers I bet thorn says we were unlucky we played well it just didn't go for us,until he realised what he or the players do wrong I don't see much future for him as a manager.

manager with potential but has ALOT to learn,has bought himself one more season to hone his skills

Definitely has potential. If we stay up then he's done a cracking job IMO.

Having lost all those players over the last 9 months, having to field a very young side etc; not to mention the turmoil the club has been though, staying up would be a real achievement.

If we go down then I'd accept a change as we'd probably need fresh impetus.

If he keeps us up without having to rely on Pompey ie 5th bottom or better, then he will have done a great job. Then if SISU remain in charge I would keep AT for next season.
If we are taken over I would look to appoint a more experienced and successful manager but keep AT as scout.

If he's given the money made available by all the high earners leaving in the summer i would trust him to make some astute signings unlike his predecessors and that's what makes successful sides in this league - using money wisely.

It amazes me how much support he gets. IF we stay up he has done a great job? Are you sure?
If we stay up we will have had a very narrow escape. The coaching and management team have not been up to it.
A team losing 10 in a row away from home suggest I'm right. Little Doncaster and Pompey's misfortune are the only reasons we are still in with a chance of survival. Unless he can string a bunch of away wins together and combine it with the current great home form for the remainder of the season then no it will be time for change.

Little Portsmouth and Doncaster's misfortunes? What planet are you on paxman? They both have far more expensive and better starting elevens.

It never ceases to amaze me that those who want Thorn gone will simply pretend that we haven't had our squad ripped apart and replaced with kids.

People were claiming that Thorn has been in charge of all recent transfers to the club.

Imagine this... Thorn keeps us up... sisu still in charge... but Thorn contract will have ended anyway... and sisu will think that is one more off the wage bill...

I think the truth will be slightly different. If sisu are still here they will give thorn a deal regardless of league status. Why not he is cheap, even his supporters admit he is pliable in terms of what he does and says and a lot of supporters will still see him as a victim rather than a key contributor to our woes.

If we get taken over he may get his old job back but serious investors would want a manager at the club with pedigree.

Why do they see him as a victim? Is he doing the job for free? I am waiting for someone to claim he was actually born in Coventry and is a Sky Blues fan.

Err his contract won't be up. A twelve rolling month contract is not wait until its up and then decide to issue another - that's called a twelve month contract. Rolling means that until ended by one party or the other, he always has twelve months!

Not entirely because they could at any point serve notice on that contratct to make it a static 12 months (as could he to them), but it protects his notice period, means if successful (sic) we would receive compensation but doesn't tie into silly five year deals etc. I think whoever is in charge they are a great idea and amazed that apart from the top few managers and coaches that they are not the norm.

Depends on many rolling deals there is a terms where either party can serve notice and the compensation clause is void. Multi rolling terms are not all that common

Thanks for clearing it up. I agree, it would make it a good idea for them to be the norm. It is ludicrous that a manger can fail badly and receive their salary for another 2 or 3 years.

Isn't Pep Guardiola on one?

I dont think there is anything at all to suggest he has a 12 month ending contract!! Thats madness. Rolling contract dictates that it is reviewable month by month. Therefore if in May they decide to get rid, then they must compensate for a month after that. Why on earth would anyone, in any job, be told they are fired, and then that means theyve got 12 more months in the job?! Come on people, lets think about it for a second.

If we stay up, then either way we are looking at avoiding relegation... especially if SISU aren't gone! Personally after this this season no matter what the result, Thorn has done a job and there is no reason to keep him.... Bring in a "professional"... Until then i'll support him.
